Randall Shake Memorial

Hats off in the Spirit Bar today as we remembered a 'sound chap'. Then a fine round of drinks to the preservation of his soul up there and his reputation down here.

 Iron John told the gathering:

Randall Shake, aka Khankrumthebulgar, died  in 2012.  I am working with Artistry Against Misandry to create a memorial for him. To keep his memory going this memorial will be in the form of a drawing which will be presented once a year to that MRA who best exemplified his attitude and actions.

 

Randall Shake was known throughout the Men's Rights Movement as a 'Philosopher'. He articulated the depths of feeling that men, fathers, sons and Brothers have when faced with the systemic discrimination in our society against anyone with a penis.

 

He was a 'rough and ready' philosopher, no 'academic', tackling many 'hard' issues and from an American perspective. He never shrank from even the most down and dirty problems. He was blunt. He led discussions; he challenged wild anger and redirected it down righteous paths. He brought his own anger at the easy destruction of the most basic of Values and men's rights in relationships, law, institutions and society. But he channelled it with skill.  He saw through the lies and mendacities of 'progressives' and Feminists in particular. He structured responses.

 

The Award this first year goes to Geoffrey James.

 

A fine choice

 

He too is well known, as Solaris. He is an Australian MRA with a 'grumpy disposition' and a decade of experience. He aims to help young men realize they don't have to apologize for being male.

 

He is welcome in the Tavern.

 

I raise a Glass of Fine Amber fluid to both Geoff and to Khan.

Ruddy Hell

You have to laugh. 'We get the Government we deserve' is an old, tried and tested adage but the lads and lasses in the P&B were scratching their heads wondering what we had done so awful as to get this one.

Kevin Rudd, known here as KRudd, is a very likeable chap. He smiles; he is everywhere on TV; he has something to say about 'the Great Moral Challenges of our Time; and he tells us about what he is doing about them from the steps of a church on Sundays.

Narcissists are like that.

We are in for a rough ride.

Many wanted him back, Gillard was so awful. But which is worse?

 And now he IS back......the memories return with a vengeance.

There are many lost souls out there who will vote for him.

He may even get a Vote of Confidence from unusual places.

Drink up.

 

Manipulated Compassion

Most of the Tavern folk have compassion, but few are fools. The Asylum Seeker issue is high on the news charts at the moment and a little Clarity goes well with Charity.

Mentioned was made of asylum seekers a week or so back. There are many people who sympathise with refugees and would try to emulate the Good Samaritan, but unfortunately want to reap the kudos through the use of money not given from their pockets but from those of others. The Taxpayers.

And there is a sound case to be made for a general social conscience.

Typically the issue is framed in an emotional manner rather than using cooler reason. Images are used to elicit our sympathy and compassion, which are duly delivered onto our streets by protesters who treat it as 'moral' coin. But again it is not usually from their own hearts and souls. Many of them also rely on the taxpayer-provided 'benefit' culture.

They manipulate Conscience.

It is a form of Emotional Blackmail used by an entire Industry of people living off the generosity of others.

And it works. Many people in the villages around like to see the protesters marching and carousing. These people also like to see the Tavern lights on a dark and stormy night, shining on the hill. They see themselves as 'compassionate' They see themselves as 'good people'. It is far easier to nod in agreement with the TV pictures of protesters and marchers from Amnesty or the Socialist Alliance from the comfort of their armchairs than to actually be a Good Samaritan. They 'sympathise' and 'empathise'. They congratulate themselves. They pay the taxes. They send an annual cheque to a 'charity'.

The 'fodder' for the meal the protesters make of their compassion comes by the boatload, and a very sorry lot of humanity they are. Poor, bedraggled, children as young as new borns.

Imagine if a family in a car crashed just outside your house. Wailing and the sounds of mayhem calls your attention  outside where you rush to be confronted with injured children and their mum and dad. You want to help. You do your best.

Those armchair people would do that if it were their house. They may even rush out from next door to help you too.

You DO your best for the injured. You pull them from the wreckage and make them as comfortable as the roadside allows. You comfort the crying children. You call for 'social help' in the form of an ambulance.

But instead of an ambulance taking them to hospital, they demand to come into your home. And live there. Indefinitely. "Look at the crying children", they cry.

They want you to foot the bill for food, clothing, household goods and all. "For the children". And they demand that you rearrange the furniture and provide a 'prayer room' so they can pray thanks to their bizarre false Gods for their good fortune.

Compassion can be stretched just so far.

Then the next family arrives and crashes outside two hours later. Followed by another group in the evening. They all 'cry' for your help.

Now it dawns on you that the crashes are not simple accidents. They are deliberate. And YOU have been taken for a fool.

This is the real state of affairs. The clarity.

"But", say the do-gooders' and the rent-seekers,"We are a rich country. We CAN afford to care for them."

The Tavern has many rooms. The larders and cellars are well stocked.

Our supplier, who is well known to us, assures us that He has unlimited stores and warehouses full and we can have as much as we like. We simply have to ask. And abide by his decent and reasonable business rules. He likes to be paid on time even when he gives more than the usual 21 days credit.

We can be assured too that our generosity to others is extended and welcome in people in need of sustenance.  

But we know too the effect of inviting in people who will simply break the furniture and who want to turn the small room at the back of the cellar wherein sits the Grail into a toilet.

Even the devil herself has rules and knows the score. Even Presidents of ill repute know the score.

Peter dropped in this morning and was telling us of what President Putin had to say about people coming into 'his' country:

On February 4th, 2013, Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, addressed the Duma, (Russian Parliament), and gave a speech about the tensions with minorities in Russia:  

"In Russia live Russians. Any minority, from anywhere, if it wants to live in Russia, to work and eat in Russia, should speak Russian, and should respect the Russian laws.  

If they prefer Sharia Law, then we advise them to go to those places where that's the state law.  

Russia does not need minorities. Minorities need Russia, and we will not grant them special privileges, or try to change our laws to fit their desires, no matter how loud they yell 'discrimination'.  

We better learn from the suicides of America, England, Holland and France, if we are to survive as a nation.  

The Russian customs and traditions are not compatible with the lack of culture or the primitive ways of most minorities.  

Maybe Putin's grasp of geography does not extend as far south as Oz but he has a point.

It is not the numbers but what the asylum seekers bring with them.  And in many cases it is not a fear of where they have come from, nor dispossession back there, but a hope for a 'better life' here, which is far more a possibility for them.

Who can blame them for that?

It is in itself not blameworthy to aspire to a better life. Such is the Political argument put by socialists in Oz.

So many 'boat people' were coming here at one point that the death toll from accidents at sea - inevitable accidents in poorly built 'littoral' boats on the high seas - that some deterrence was needed, just to preserve the lives of people who did not seem to care for their own lives. Or the lives of their children.

They were deterred by a policy of allowing only Temporary Asylum and off-shore processing. Few boats came.

The Socialists overturned that Policy and in doing so overturned many, many boats.

A flotilla of boats worthy of Helen of Troy have departed Indonesia under Capt Rudd and Capt Gillard.

Over 1000 people have drowned.

 

STOP right here, for a moment. Think.

By the stroke of a pen for Political Purposes, over 1000 people have died. Children amongst them.

These were needless deaths. Pointless deaths. Deaths caused soley by the Narcissism and Hubris of the Socialist Government of Australia.

But being compassionate about the dead is not sufficient for the socialists. Beating the Opposition and calumnising their efforts to save lives and preserve our National Integrity is all that matters.

The Socialists take the 'High Moral Ground' whilst being totally deficient in Morals.

Many boats have sank in storms or simply from being swamped through gross overloading. Some boats have been deliberately scuttled or set fire to when an Australian warship or Customs ship hove into view.

The boats still come bringing people from all over Africa, the middle east and Asia Minor even now and they also, all too often, bring a demand to reconstruct the very life they once lead and ran from, here.

They are not destitute when they set out. They are not 'unable' to move their money out. They use it to buy an illegal way here, destroying ...

their identity on the way and crashing /sinking / setting fire to the boats they arrive in.

We are a large Tavern but one has to travel some distance up a steep hill to our doors. Oz is an even larger place surrounded by enormous distances of sea.

Asylum seekers' by-pass' many safe harbours to reach our shores. They feed themselves, clothe themselves and house themselves en-route. They then claim to be destitute. Poor.

When did you last have an overseas trip through so many countries as some of these people? When did you last have enough money saved for such a journey over so long a time?

 

 

 

 

They buy an old car from a back-yard dealer and drive across town to 'crash' right at your front door, because they KNOW that compassion is important to YOU.

 

They take advantage of that.

 

They do not respect compassion.

 

Compassion is a very Christian concept.

 

'Love thy Neighbour as thyself' may well have been spoken a long time ago by a man from the middle east, but few there agree with Him. The Samaritan was not a popular fellow.

 

And neither was Jesus.

 

And the Christ of Christianity, and what he stood for and died for are certainly not respected by the vast majority of the 'asylum' seekers. Mostly they are Muslims.

 

They do not want to go to Muslim countries. They want to bring Islam to Australia as part of their 'multicultural' gifts.

 

How many of them would stop to save even one of themselves, let alone you.

 

 

 

It is not usual that this old and grumpy Tavern-Keeper agrees with President Putin. Even the devil can report the weather correctly on a cold day.

 

The Christian Principles that underpin Australian society and institutions also reside in the warm hearts of its people. Admittedly the glow is sometimes weak and the influx of other creeds is just one 'external' attack on Goodness that joins the many 'internal' attacks from the 'Progressive' left; the Cultural Marxists; the Feminists; the Intellectually Dishonest and compassion- bereft.

 

Such people 'USE' us.

 

And Abuse us.

Music Befitting a Sunday

Song ripples in the cellars and the kitchens on Sundays. The evening may be jolly but the daytime preparations need some solemnity and beauty.

Here is a 'taster' whilst getting the veggies out of their baskets.

 

 

The Catholic Church is Majestic despite the vicious attacks on its integrity in these past decades.  From inside as well as from without. The Gates of Hell are ranged against it and it's reputation is suffering. The whip is applied to  the back of the Body of Christ.

But it sings.

Its sorrow and sadness are offered up.

Evils lie deep in the hearts of men and they can pull a dark cloak over Man's Goodness. But from the depths also rises the expression of that Goodness.

No other churches especially outside the Catholic Church have this kind of solemn praise to God without copying the concept of the chants sang inside our churches.

Whilst you prepare your Family Dinner, perhaps this beauty in the background, floating over your tables, will bring blessings to you and heal your Soul.

Churches and MoneyLenders

The Church Of England is in a right old pickle. Maybe they have forgotten the Money Lenders in the Temple bizzo and what Jesus had to say about that. Few words it is true but plenty of action with the knotted rope. And overturned tables, if I recall.

But the Archbishop of the C of E while up in arms about money-lenders, has a different plan.

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

But Theology apart even wedding homosexuals together is going to be less of a bother than wedding worship and business. It isn't quite as easy as he might think.

His plans for a Righteous Money-shop are rapidly coming unstuck.

CHURCH of England leader Justin Welby is "furious" after finding out its pension fund invested in a high-interest loans company he had earlier promised to destroy. 
 
Welby, who as Archbishop of Canterbury is spiritual leader of the world's 85 million Anglicans, vowed to "compete" payday lender Wonga out of existence by promoting not-for-profit credit unions. 

But the Financial Times revealed that the church had invested in US venture capitalists Accel Partners, who led Wonga fundraising in 2009. 

The church explicitly bans investing in companies involved in payday lending. 

Lambeth Palace, the archbishop's headquarters, said an independent inquiry would probe how "this serious inconsistency" occurred, while Sky News reported that Welby was "furious". 

He said in an interview published late on Wednesday that he had told Errol Damelin, chief executive of the British payday lender Wonga, of his plans to take on his company.

"I've met the head of Wonga and we had a very good conversation," the archbishop, a former oil executive, told Total Politics magazine. 

"I said to him quite bluntly, 'We're not in the business of trying to legislate you out of existence, we're trying to compete you out of existence'.

But the Landlady of the Raccoon Arms in the village below the Tavern had far more to say. Anna Raccoon, my valued competitor, dropped in with a song on her lips. A Carol:

Jesus drove the Moneylenders from the Temple. The Archbishop of Canterbury has decided to set up shop in opposition to them. All hail the modern Church of England! 

Welby.com pay day loan company extraordinaire is born. Archbishop Justin Welby has decided that the church is to go into the money lending business.  

It's a stroke of genius. 

The Church has been scrapping around for coppers from a depleted audience on a Sunday morning recently, gazing with a decidedly ungodly avarice at Wonga.Com's vast income which allows it to advertise for new customers on prime time television - and Welby wants some of it.....

How to do that? Undercut them of course.  

'Religion-is-Us' will lend the poor and huddled masses cheap pay day loans at reduced rates. Now that's a great idea - in theory. But there is a reason why Wonga.com charge the rates they do -  

it's because most of their customers are feckless idiots who don't repay their loans  

- so Wonga have to charge everybody a lot of money to cover the unpaid debts, now that they aren't allowed to chop your legs off any longer. 

A Queue of Clients whose Legs he 'Might not' Break

'Religion-is-Us' has some excellent PR going for it - I mean the Queen herself as chief executive, lets see Wonga.com match that!  

So, your CEOs granddaughter just dropped a sprog Wonga - who cares? Think you're going to get Kay Burley camped outside for two days - think on!
 

'Religion-is-Us' won't have to pay lobbyists to ensure that the government doesn't pass any inconvenient legislation curbing its money lending activities - after all they've got a row of senior executives aka Bishops sitting in the House of Lords. 

But what are you going to do about the bad debts Welby?  

Do not ask these two about debts.
They covered themselves for rainy days.

I know you've got a few trendy vicars who ride motorbikes and wear leather jackets - but you don't really think they are going to scare Jason and Karl into coughing up do you? How does the Devil pay for souls these days? Would he cover the debts?

I wonder if he is thinking of Pubs next?

Er... and if you are thinking what I think you are thinking...NO. We don't do credit here.

Integrity

A policeman, Justin Hanners, came to the Tavern and gave us all a lesson in Integrity. He didn't mention the word, but then he wouldn't as it is an almost forbidden word these days and is certainly not taught to boys as they grow up.

But he did explain the corruption of the Police force he used to be in and the corruption of Officers who simply obey orders.

I will let you listen to him and then we can see what the guys in the Bar gave some thought to after.

It seems almost a piddling matter, doesn't it.

Many Police services do exactly the same. A bit of pressure by a politician, some budget pressure, some 'tough action' stance, some new 'radar speed gun' and Bob's your manacle.  You are caught. Your human quality is diminished. Your Soul is in jeopardy.

It is the Road to Perdition  

with bent coppers lining it.

St Augustine made it clear that a Man of Conscience has a Duty to break a bad Law. The Nuremburg Trials - remember them? - never heard of them? - also made it a non-excuse for doing something immoral in war.

Life is a war sometimes, in the souls of men, and this young policeman stood on the Right side.

Laws are easy to make. Parliaments and 'authorities'  make laws all the time. So many that today one can break the law simply going about carefully and thinking one is doing that legitimately.

Young men are raised these days by women in feminised schools. They do not learn 'Masculine Integrity'. Indeed, Feminism, and to some extent leftist philosophy labels such qualities as Integrity as 'Patriarchal', 'Oppressive', even saying there is no such thing as Morals or Right and Wrong.

And it is not just policemen affected.

Justin mentions corruption. It happens in the full range of human organisations from the local kindergarten right on up to the Highest Offices in the land. It happens in YOUR workplace.

You may be given a task or instruction that seems just a little 'off', a little unethical, maybe even downright wrong.

You have a DUTY to say 'NO'.

But how many of us do not say 'No'? How many are abjured not to think for themselves but just 'do as you are told', or else.

Have a stiff drink of Masculine Courage, nay Human Courage, Moral Courage and THINK about it.

Disagreeable Couples.

Occasionally I have to ask people to leave the Tavern. The Bouncer escorts out those causing a fuss. Sometimes it is a 'couple' bickering in the corner with raised voices. Later we hear of the visit by the cops.

There are usually no 'observers' to see what happens when the cops do get to a house where there is a 'Domestic Violence' report but on occasion we do get to hear. So it was that Harry told us of a TV show he'd seen.

Sometime during the course of last summer, 2012, I found myself watching a police reality TV show wherein, basically, camera crews were embedded with various police teams in the UK in order to give the public some insight into every day policing in the country. 

It was quite interesting, and I must confess to having been fairly impressed with the police officers whom I saw in action.  

Not all of them, but most of them. 

Even the women officers were pretty good which, to be honest, came as something of a surprise to me. 

But there was one incident that sticks in my mind so firmly that I can still remember it now - a year later. 

It was to do with domestic violence. 

And I think that the reason that I remember this particular incident so well is because it somewhat captures the essence of the true nature of domestic violence in the UK as described countless times by police officers whom I have met or whose blogs I have read. 

This is what happened. 

Winnie - not her real name - has called the police because she has been assaulted by her partner.

Two officers - one male, one female - from the domestic violence unit turn up to the apartment. 

Winnie - a somewhat feeble, pathetic woman of average size in her 40's - claims that her partner has just assaulted her. As evidence for this, she points to a very small scratch on the inside of her forearm near her elbow. 

She explains that she wanted her partner, Fred, to play with her on the Nintendo Wii (i.e. to play a video game) and that he refused - because he wanted to stay in bed. 

The male police officer asks her if she wants him removed from the premises. 

She says that she does. 

"Where is he?" the officer asks. 

Winnie points to the bedroom. 

The bedroom door opens. 

And there lies Fred, on the bed, fully uncovered and wearing nothing but a pair of boxer shorts. 

He is a skinny white man who looks decidedly unhealthy and appears to be about 55 years old. 

He has one leg - which looks withered from lack of use. 

The other leg is missing - having been cut off well above the knee. 

The male police officer asks for further clarification about the incident. 

It transpires that Winnie wanted Fred to play with her on the Nintendo Wii. But Fred wanted to stay in bed. And so, in an attempt to encourage him to get out of bed, Winnie goes to the bedroom and pulls the duvet off him - which is why he is lying on the bed completely uncovered at this point in time. 

He reacted to this by grabbing the duvet to try to prevent her from uncovering him and, in the process, one of his fingernails scratches the inside of her forearm leaving a very small red lesion. 

This was the 'assault'. 

The two police officers retire to the living room, looking at each other and wondering what to do. 

"Whose place is this?", one of them asks. 

"It's his place," Winnie replies. 

And so, in summary, Winnie wants Fred removed from his own apartment because he committed an act of domestic violence against her. 

Fred is an invalid with one leg. 

It's his apartment. 

And the two police officers are wondering what to do about this situation. 

Isn't this Real domestic violence?

The Police Dispossessing a man

so Automatically

Well, fortunately for Fred, the two police officers decide that Winnie should leave the apartment because - they reason - it was she who committed the first 'assault' - by trying to remove the duvet. 

And so Winnie is asked to leave. 

Before she leaves, she calls out to Fred. 

"Have you got any tobacco, Love?" 

"Yes," says Fred. And he gives her some tobacco. 

Winnie then leaves the apartment.

 In the bar, all the customers considered this incident. Harry continued:

There are some points worth noting from this incident and from others like it. 

Women, these days, believe that they have a right to have men arrested and removed from their own homes for the most utterly trivial of incidents, even when they, themselves, are the primary causes of such incidents. 

Well it is pretty clear that Winnie did, and she is unlikely to have come up with that outrageous  idea all by herself.

Police officers will, indeed, arrest and remove men from their own homes for the most utterly trivial of incidents.
(In this particular case, it seems that because Fred was disabled, and also because Winnie admitted that she had sparked off the incident, the officers managed to come up with a reason for not removing this disabled man from his own home.)

The first thing that came to the minds of the police was  to remove the man. That was clear.  But why? Why so quick to judgement, especially to dispossess him and throw him on the street?

The domestic violence figures are mostly based on trivial incidents such as this. Indeed, one police officer in the TV programme made the following remark - though I cannot quote his exact words.

"These people just cannot sort out their own problems. Always calling the police over silly arguments."  

Calls to the police about domestic violence are mostly arising from women who are using the police to aggress against their partners. They are not mostly arising from women who are in fear of domestic violence.

Indeed, it has been said before in this Tavern that some people like to play 'Games' and this one is called,

"Let's You and Him, Fight".

It is not surprising that many men do, actually, become violent if they have to dwell in domestic circumstances wherein, effectively, they have been totally disempowered and where they are forever at the mercy of their partners regardless of how appalling is their behaviour. 

And if they are also likely to lose their own homes and their own children at the touch of a button, it is easy to see how they can become, literally, mentally deranged. 

"The suicide rate amongst separated and divorced men is at epidemic proportions", said someone.

Most domestic violence calls to the police are coming from feckless women - mostly loud-mouthed, drunk, drugged or just angry - often drama queens - who can be described as living in the 'underclass'; 'rednecks', 'trailer trash', 'ghetto' etc etc 

The primary causes of serious domestic violence committed by men are the government and the police.  

Quite simply, when the law refuses to help men who are in distress and, worse, when it will actively seek to hurt men when they are distressed, then men will far more likely resort to violence. 

At the very least, the current laws make men far more edgy, and they make women far more trigger happy. And the result will be far more emotional conflagration - throughout the nation. 

But the government and the police do not care about this. 

After all, for them, domestic violence - no matter how trivial - means more jobs, more money, more votes and more power.
 
Judging by her demeanour, Winnie was not a violent woman. And most people would probably not view her as such. 

And yet she did commit two acts of 'domestic violence', in my view.
Firstly, she called the police to, at the very least, intimidate her partner in order to get her own way. 

Secondly, she attempted to get a disabled man ejected from his very own home for no other reason than that he had irritated her.  

(And my guess is that she would have succeeded if Fred had not been disabled.)

This got a lot of people thinking.

Everyone agreed that they knew not very much about domestic violence except what the TV said continually. And Government TV Adverts that always show the man as a bully or a thug or just thick and the woman always a poor victim.  

AGITPROP.

Soon other information appeared and was passed around. One chap produced an article about domestic violence research called The Partner Abuse State of Knowledge Project:

The most comprehensive review of the scholarly domestic violence research literature ever conducted concludes, among other things, that women perpetrate physical and emotional abuse, as well as engage in control behaviors, at comparable rates to men. 

Well THAT got some head scratching going. Even some of the ladies were shocked. Or looked as though they might be.
 

 

The Partner Abuse State of Knowledge project, or PASK, whose final installment was just published in the journal Partner Abuse, is an unparalleled three-year research project, conducted by 42 scholars at 20 universities and research centers, and including information on 17 areas of domestic violence research. 

"Makes a change from reading a woman's magazine", said one wag.

“Over the years, research on partner abuse has become unnecessarily fragmented and politicized,” commented John Hamel, Editor-in-Chief of Partner Abuse and PASK Director. “The purpose of this project is to bring together, in a rigorously evidence-based, transparent and methodical manner, existing knowledge about partner abuse, with reliable, up-to-date research that can easily be accessed by anyone. PASK is grounded in the premises that

everyone is entitled to their opinion,  

but not to their own facts;

that these facts should be available to everyone, and that domestic violence intervention and policy ought to be based upon these facts rather than ideology and special interests.” 

Among PASK’s findings are that, except for sexual coercion, men and women perpetrate physical and non-physical forms of abuse at comparable rates, most domestic violence is mutual, women are as controlling as men, domestic violence by men and women is correlated with essentially the same risk factors, and male and female perpetrators are motivated for similar reasons.  

“Although research confirms that women are more impacted by domestic violence,” stated Hamel, “these findings recommend important intervention and policy changes, including a need to pay more attention to female-perpetrated violence, mutual abuse, and the needs of male victims.”  

Hamel also argues that men are not only disproportionately arrested in domestic violence cases, but sometimes arrested for arbitrary reasons, citing, for example, that police often arrest the bigger and stronger party in cases where the perpetrator is unclear. “Such policies are not only ineffective but violate people’s civil rights,” Hamel concludes. “People in the domestic violence field say that ‘it’s all about the victims.’ Well, the victim is not always the one hit, but sometimes the one arrested.”

And just in today, another case. A man in jail for months awaiting trial is acquitted after real evidence is presented that contradicted the woman's claims and her lawyer's hyperbole.

 A FRAGMENT of CCTV footage has helped clear a man accused of aggravated sexual assault in the Parliament House carpark on New Year's Day. 

Mathew Luke Johnson, 35, of North Hobart, looked up and breathed a sigh of relief when a Supreme Court jury returned a verdict of not guilty. 

Mr Johnson said as he left court he was greatly relieved by the result after a stressful time awaiting trial in prison. 

He had pleaded not guilty to aggravated sexual assault, saying the 26-year-old tourist was the one who pulled him into the car park. 

A glimpse of the couple at the edge of waterfront CCTV footage confirmed his claim. 

During the two-day trial, Crown prosecutor Tony Jacobs described the woman as "completely helpless" that night after consuming significantly more alcohol than she usually would at Salamanca bars and the Taste of Tasmania festival. 

She was in town to spend the New Year with her sister but the two became separated in the hours before the woman met Mr Johnson. 

The court heard Mr Johnson and the complainant became acquainted outside a nightclub and after they kissed he asked her if she wanted to go home with him. 

He told police in an interview played to the court yesterday she smiled and led him by the hand into the car park. 

Minutes after they had met, the pair were engaged in sex acts behind a shipping container in the carpark when bypassers intervened, chased Mr Johnson away and alerted police. 

Note this. They chased HIM away. Why?

There is an automatic and biased assumption that any man is guilty, even when it is the woman who instigates.

Defence lawyer Kim Baumeler said the victim had been nowhere as drunk as she had claimed and had a much better memory of the evening than she made out because she was able to describe Mr Johnson in considerable detail. 

She said there was nothing in the woman's actions to suggest she was not consenting and the sex acts were more in the nature of foreplay than a forcible sexual assault.

But this man has spent MONTHS in jail.

He needs a drink.

We are from the Government and we are here to....

Australian Evil

The shocking news about Kevin Rudd's solution to the 'asylum seeker' problem stunned the Tavern. The mood turned from anger to sheer horror of what this says about the Australian people.

The Australian people are well known for their 'laid back' good humour and generosity. No-one to date could possibly describe Australia as representative of Evil.

But now we have to look at the possibility.

Talk of 'Evil' human traffickers so often used by the Government ministers from KRudd through Gillard and now KRudd again, completely avoids the fact that it was KRudd who opened the door to those traffickers in the first place having destroyed the much more benign Policy of the Liberals.  The Labour Party led by KRudd virtually devised the 'business plan' they continually talk of the traffickers having.

And now that over

1000 men, women and children have drowned

trying to illegally reach our shores he and his Ministers continue to demonstrate that evil has a smiling and 'innocent' face, intent on blaming others. KRUdd the Messiah has spoken. He has single-handedly 'stopped the boats'.

Hail Kevin.

No-one likes the fact that tens of thousands of people have arrived here illegally after destroying their identity records and paying vast sums to the traffickers. No-one likes the fact that many are likely to continue to act in defiance of the Laws of Australia, just as so many of them have indeed shown themselves to be feral creatures who have gained entry into the Zoo's ice-cream shop.

Our cities are reeling with the effects of gangs of 'young' illegal asylum seekers ' placed in the community' fighting other gangs of illegal asylum seekers. They show their inclinations in the riots and fires, the destruction and 'self-harm' in the detention centres.

But despite not liking this, the Australian people have shown remarkable generosity of heart and spirit. So much so that few have even criticised the separation of Fathers and boys from their wives, mothers and daughters and sisters. We have continued to volunteer to help.

Misandry rules in Australia even if denied or simply shouted down with Feminist agitprop and victimhood.

But KRudd has gone a league further.  

ALL MEN will be denied entry for ever.

EVEN IF THEY ARE GENUINE REFUGEES.

They will all be sent to another country and never be allowed to come in, even legally. A 'Third-World' country that is so poor it has massive problems of its own. They will be dumped into canvas camps in their thousands, in a small town which has only a few thousand inhabitants itself. It is a recipe for disaster.

Women and children will NOT be sent there. They will be placed  'in the community'. In Australia.

Families will be permanently broken up.

And the Ministers of the KRudd government defend this travesty of humanity. They find every excuse to avoid self-analysis.

But Cid gives it a go for them.

He came into the bar to strum his guitar and give us a few of his latest riffs, and talk about Evil, quite unaware of this latest and most awful example.

Rudd is likely to be hoist on his petard due to the sexism inculcated into the Australian psyche by years of Feminism. Even though women will be allowed to stay in Oz, they will be upset that their own men are expelled, and you just cannot go upsetting the ladies in Oz.

Cid did well. He has given quite a bit of thought to it.

As you and I and all in the bar must.

Australia has a MORAL OBLIGATION to offer refuge to genuine asylum seekers. To those asylum seekers who do not try to deceive. And to treat all of them EQUALLY: not on the basis of age and sex.

But we do not get that even as Australian Citizens. Men do not. Women get double-plus-good treatment as per the dictats of the Office for the Status of Women. Have vagina, get free pussy-pass.

KRudd and his cronies are acting in a totally inhumane manner. Vicious. Un'Fair'. Un-Australian. No sign of a 'fair go', one of KRudd's favourite phrases.

AND THEY THINK THEY ARE CLEVER !

They gloat that they have pulled a fast one on Tony Abbott.

It is a Political ploy, to cost Billions of dollars and countless lives, just to stymie the opposition.

Note also that the Australian people will fork over BILLIONS of dollars to the fat cats that run PNG. The corruption there is endemic.

Note also that PNG is located on one half of a huge island, the other half of which is Irian Jaya, a province of Indonesia -

from where the illegal asylum seekers set out on their boats !

No attempt was made to establish a processing centre on their side of the border.

Cid talks of many factors, Power being one. KRudd wields it. Yet power comes in degrees. We think of Evil people like the mass murderers and the dictators of the last century, but we need to be interested in the scale of it, not just the usual 'Top' 10 Most Evil People in History' but down to the ordinary person in the street.

But to understand Evil, the bigger the sample the better view you will get. 10 is not enough. So consider the Family Court Judge who dispenses with truth; the false accuser who will see a man jailed and denied his children.  You can come up with a host of seemingly ordinary people who 'do' evil in smaller quantity than a Hitler or Mao but cause mayhem for those surrounding them. Mothers who kill their unborn babies is an early example Cid gives.

And the evil people deny it.

Cid also talks in terms of not needing to consider 'religion' or God. He speaks as an atheist, examining from a philosophical point of view. A place to start.

KRudd claimed to be a Christian and claimed that bringing Religion into things was 'divisive' in a 'multicultural' society, but he nevertheless had a regular Press call outside a church on Sundays.

And Cid talks of Empathy, or lack of it. There are a number of other factors involved too.  And very often one can only 'see' evil after the fact. Sometimes long after, especially with 'small' matters that go under the radar.

But Evil IS a matter of Right and Wrong. A Moral issue. It's also Human behaviour, so a Psychological issue.  Scott Peck studied from both of those perspectives.

Peck was amongst the first to take the 'religious' perspective on Evil from the Churches and hand it over to Psychologists to study, suggesting that they start with Narcissism and Laziness. People are too lazy generally to look inside themselves. That was in 'The Road Less Travelled'. He went on to develop the themes in "The People of the Lie".

To Peck, THE LIE is a central feature

 of evil.

It is no simple error that the Devil is called the Prince(ss) of Lies.

Abdullah, standing at the bar had read both books. He said:

"Don't even consider buying this book if you haven't read the author's first book "The road less travelled." This is a sequel to that book and a lot of the notions and concepts discussed here were established in the first book.  

Besides, the author, M. Scott Peck, introduces many controversial suggestions in this book, and most of his findings are either shocking or, at least, unusual. Only by reading the first book you will establish the respect and admiration of the author's wisdom and intellect necessary to hear out his out of the ordinary ideas.  

"The road less traveled" is a psychological study of love and of human spiritual growth, or in other words, the good side of humanity. This book is a follow up to that study. It is only logical that when you study the light that you wonder about the darkness. However, human evil is a concept totally alien to the science of psychiatry.  

Besides, as the author himself admits, using the term "Evil" can be an act of evilness itself! It is also highly risky to approach the flames of evilness without catching up on its fires yourself! With these precautions Dr. Peck begins a fantastic book in the study of human evil through the eyes of psychiatry.  

The book begins by telling in detail the story of one of his patients who seemed to be a happy man leading a very normal and healthy life. However, as he carries on, we start realizing along with Dr. Peck that evil was staring the man in every corner of his life, hiding in his problems and even among his family members! It is by the end of the story we realize that this normal person literally did sell his soul to the devil!  

How did this happen? How can one sell his soul to the devil?  

Does the devil even exist?  

With these questions Dr. Peck dives into the study of evil in human beings. Peck claims that evil does exist, but it's neither incurable nor unavoidable!

And the only way to combat evil is to admit to its existence and to recognize its danger. How can you fight something that you don't even believe is true, he says.  

Dr. Peck explains why scientists dismiss the idea of the existence of evil and how that is caused by their limited perception of what science stands for. He then carries on by giving examples of some of the cases he had to deal with where he allegedly met with the human evil.  

And in one chapter he dedicates it wholly to one story of one of his clients whom he failed to heal after more than 5 years of therapy because he didn't have the knowledge or the courage to admit that it was evil that she was suffering from.  

Later on he explains a different manifestation of evil that he terms as "The group evil." He explains that evil can be present in a group even if all of its members were not individually evil!

Another chap, David spoke up:

I remember picking this book up about 5 years ago and scanning through the first couple of chapters thinking to myself, "What is this guy talking about? I can't even fathom people that act like this." It just didn't ring true because my experience had not seen the likes of what he was trying to explain.  

Fast forward 5 years later, and after going through a harrowing job experience with two people who could star in a movie representation of this book (which, come to think of it, has already been done in a film called SWIMMING WITH SHARKS in the character played by Kevin Spacey), I read it through in a single sitting.  

Peck so accurately diagnoses the "people of the lie" as being so self-absorbed and narcisistic that they continually make excuses about the abuse they heap upon other people, somehow turning every story 180 degrees in the opposite direction and always claiming victimization when the situation so clearly points to them as the perpetrator.  

It is a sad indictment of what must be a pandemic within institutions, as these folks clamor and cling to power, money and title oblivious to the human carnage left in the wake of their passing.

 People who are evil will deny they are evil. They will pretend to be 'Good'.  They will blame others, projecting their own evil onto them. Just as KRudd does. And his Ministers do.

I will have another drink and think a bit more on these matters. Many in the bar are doing that right now too.

• It often happens then that 'the evil' may be recognized by its very disguise. Because they are such experts at disguise, it is seldom possible to pinpoint the maliciousness of 'the evil'. The disguise is usually impenetrable."
