Honour where it is Due

I was struck by a small gesture made by another fine restaurant. I am thinking I might do something similar in the Tavern.

There are some who's service and sacrifice must not be taken for granted. They are ordinary men, often kind men, family men, who become tough men. Their hardships and the demand we put upon them require that they be tough.

Far too many folk are scared of that toughness.

The Warrior.

Do you recal that fast-food chain that was excoriated for its Christian values a while back? Chic-fil-A.
Chick-fil-A, the same fast-food outlet has once again proved a positive to the world. This time it did so by unveiling an amazing Veterans Day tribute that left Georgia resident Eric Comfort in complete shock
According to a Facebook post he published on Mon, when he walked into a local Chick-fil-A, Comfort discovered a "Missing Man Table" that contained a single rose, a Bible & a folded American flag, as well as a plaque w/in which was the following explanation:
"This table is reserved to honor our missing comrades in arms.

The tablecloth is white — symbolizing the purity of their motives when answering the call of duty.
The single red rose, displayed in a vase, reminds us of the life of each of the missing and their loved ones and friends of these Americans who keep the faith, awaiting answers. The vase is tied with a red ribbon, symbol of our continued determination to account for our missing. A pinch of salt symbolizes the tears endured by those missing and their families who seek answers. The Bible represents the strength gained through faith to sustain those lost from our country, founded as one nation under God. The glass is inverted — to symbolize their inability to share this evening's toast.
The chair is empty — they are missing."

After the story went viral, the store manager, Alex Korchan, explained to WSB that his team members had set up the table because they "wanted to honor veterans."
Yes. That's all. Not to gain Kudos. Not to attract customers.

They are simply Good people.
Furthermore, he offered free meals to all veterans and their family members on Veterans Day.
Korchan also put up a poster so that customers could write in the names of loved ones who they have lost. "We've had a lot of people who have come in and seen it and been touched by it," Korchan continued. "It's been special to see."

A whole lot of liberals could learn something from Chick-fil-A this Veterans Day — assuming of course that, for once, they’re able to put aside political ideology and learn.
We all can learn from one another.

A simple, sincere gesture.

Thank you Mt Korchan and Chic-fil-A. We heroes, Saints and Sinners raise our glasses.

"My veteran grandpa was asked by a little girl if he would do it all again.
He said, "Yes, for you.""

(The table is set in the Tavern now, too. Top right. Choose your own flag)

  1. All good but mind you, Chik-fil-A doesn't look the most appetising, but let's not split poultry.

    1. It looks appetising enough to enough for a thriving business, despite its liberal opposition.

    1. Yes, the wise ones, the old men. Ask the right questions.

  3. It's good to see such a display. It is important to remember those who have fought for their country, lest we forget the price paid for the freedom we enjoy. It is also interesting that despite all the liberal talking heads saying how "intolerant" Chick-fil-A, it continues to do extremely well. Kudos to them for not backing down from their Christian values.

    1. Yes, you call it right. These are Christian Values. So often we hear of 'American Values' or 'Australian Values" and I wonder just what these are and how they differ from Christian ones.

Our Bouncer is a gentleman of muscle and guile. His patience has limits. He will check you at the door.

The Tavern gets rowdy visitors from time to time. Some are brain dead and some soul dead. They attack customers and the bar staff and piss on the carpets. Those people will not be allowed in anymore. So... Be Nice..
