The Tavern's Restaurant is Not #1 on TripAdvisor

Who would think that the Tavern's Restaurant was not the most famous in Tasmania? It is of course. We get around 400 odd folk in the Tavern on slow days  - sometimes as many as 1500 - and most in the evening, and many of those, after quenching their thirst for truth seek something  just as substantial for their bodily nutrition. But we are not Number 1 on TripAdvisor, largely because we do not advertise.  Nontheless our meals, prepared by a stream of visiting Chefs and Chefettes, are reknowned.

TripAdvisor of course is #1 in convincing travellers to visit places. It would have some difficulty sending customers here as we are somewhat 'off the beaten track' down a road less travelled. But those who do find there way here do not leave unsatisfied in body and soul. Believe me.

But do not believe TripAdvisor too readily, nor the cheeky chap we heard about and from this evening.  He is a very naughty boy, Oobah Butler by name. Even that sounds fake.

His restaurant in London is reknowned too, for two reasons. It is #1 on Trip advisor; and it does not exist. As he told us himself.

The lad pulled it off. One has to laugh at the sheer chuzpah, with or without ketchup.

The TVs in the UK had a field day and I have no doubt that Oobah will find  better accomodations when he is picked up by a major TV News mob to write convincing fake news for them too.

I gave him some fish-fingers instead of our famed Salmon, as he was, as the lady said, a very naughty boy.

But we raised a glass to him too.

Pax.

  1. I like the clarity of thinking Chez Parzival - you can have salmon or salmon.

  2. HaHaHa :-)

But sadly this shows up that people don't think for themselves anymore. They believe what the are fed and told! No 1 must be great!

TripAdvisor is a good tool for finding top attractions/restaurants but that has to be be filtered by discerning choice.

So for example if the top restaurant was a Steakhouse or Mcdonalds it would not be the type of cuisine I was looking for so I would move on down the list and find the fine dining experience that I was looking for on that day :-)

Your fine dining restaurant is one I would choose to visit if I was nearby :-)

    1. The Tavern is not frequented by wannabe gliteratti, but by Saints and Heroes and we poor sinners on the road. Such as we are not mentioned in TripAdvisor. Believe me. My own review :)

    1. I am pleased that you enjoy reading it, but as to daily updates..... well, I have a tavern to run, cellars to stock, tables to wipe and customers who engage me in conversations. So a post every two days or two posts in three days is as close as you are going to get to 'daily'.

Ne meias in stragulo aut pueros circummittam.

Our Bouncer is a gentleman of muscle and guile. His patience has limits. He will check you at the door.

The Tavern gets rowdy visitors from time to time. Some are brain dead and some soul dead. They attack customers and the bar staff and piss on the carpets. Those people will not be allowed in anymore. So... Be Nice..
