Malicious Hypocricy Rules, KO?

The world is turning upside down and it is no accident. No asteroid hitting it like a billiard ball either. Nope, it is a deliberate and very human  strategy and partially dependant upon egos, lack of brain cells, and maliciousness. The stench of hypocricy becomes stronger by the day as half-wits and those inclined to the sinister left join in an unholy alliance.
Black hearted.

Thank goodness that all in the Tavern is sweet, including a fine carafe of Honey Mead I sent off the other day from my friends down in the Hartzview Vineyard. But I shall come to that later.  We shall need something to get the taste of rank nastiness out of our mouths after we've heard from a couple of people who stopped by.  Bryan Fischer from the US, and Richard Littlejohn from the UK.
Oz has hypocrites too.
From both sides of the 'Pond' that seperates the UK from the US we see the same black-hearted tentacles reaching out.  The sheer nastiness of some people, mostly, I have to say, Left oriented, increases by the day. If it were just 'talk', which for almost anything a 'right' oriented persons utters immediately would be condemned as this or that phobic or 'hate' or of course, Racist!! (tm), it would be minor, but words become actions.

Bigots abound.

First we look at the ludicrous yet applauded declaration by some seamstress that she would not make a dress for Mrs Trump. Hello? Isn't that a criminal offence these days? Refusing to make something for someone. And then there is the fellow in London who just wants to see ordinary British stuff. All hell broke loose over that.
The Dressmaker and the Baker:
Who's the Real Bigot?
Sophie Theallet is one of the top dressmakers in the world. Her designs have been worn by celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Jessica Alba, Gabrielle Union, and Michelle Obama.
One of the top, according to whom?  Those nonebrities, named? How many are in the 'top'. Do they include non-white people? Any Catholics amongst them?

She has famously begun a campaign to recruit every major fashion designer in the world to join her in refusing to provide a stitch of clothing to the new first lady, Melania Trump. Other luminaries in the fashion world such as Tom Ford and Marc Jacobs have joined the boycott.
Incitement of Luminaries?  Should this be a new legal category?
So why is Ms. Theallet adamantly, vigorously and publicly refusing to dress the incoming First Lady?
It’s a matter of values, you see.
Her designs are not just dresses. “We consider our voice an expression of our artistic and philosophical ideas." Our brand, she says, “stands against all discrimination and prejudice,” and has “always been a celebration of diversity and a reflection of the world we live in."
So, she stands against all discrimination by discriminating against a particular woman.

How does that work, again?

Never mind the quality, smell the stench.
In other words, her designs represent her values on display, and she refuses to allow her artistic ability to be used on behalf of ideals she finds abhorrent. She is perfectly willing to give up income for the sake of something higher. “Our bottom line is not just about money.”
She concludes, "I will not participate in dressing or associating in any way with the next First Lady. The rhetoric of racism, sexism and xenophobia unleashed by her husband's presidential campaign are incompatible with the shared values we live by."
And for the highbrow elites in the fashion industry, this is perfectly normal, praiseworthy, and worthy of imitation.
Abby Schreiber, the managing editor at Paper Magazine, said, "Fashion has always been about expression, provocation and, not infrequently, politics and, to that end, these designers’ refusal to dress Melania Trump is not, in and of itself, unusual for this industry.”
And she adds, if the person who would like to do business with you is linked to a message that is at odds with the brand you are seeking to cultivate, then it makes perfectly good sense to refuse to do business with them.
“Fashion designers have long attempted to tell a story about their brand and vision and to articulate a feeling, emotion or sense of who their customer or ‘muse’ is. And for those designers who are troubled by the hateful, bigoted rhetoric that surrounded Trump’s campaign, it may make sense for them to want to distance their brand and their vision from it."
Let’s summarize the worldview of the left.
If you are an artist, your work product is a vehicle for expressing your most deeply held values. And you have a right to decline to produce a work product that would violate your own conscience and compromise your values.
This is exactly what Aaron and Melissa Klein did.
Cakes they crafted for weddings represented their artistic talent and communicated a message about their own values. Because they believe, as civilization has for 6000 years, that marriage is exclusively between a man and a woman, they politely declined to produce an artistic design that communicated a message that went against their conscience and convictions.
Their wedding cakes were an expression of their artistic and philosophical ideas, and represented the shared values they live by. They told a story about their brand and vision, and they turned down a job and the money that went with it because their bottom line was about something other than money.
Well, Sophie Theallet has been lionized for her principled stand. She has been called “one of the few truly outspoken voices” in the fashion world, a woman “who make(s) the world go round,” a woman who is “not just admirable but brave,” and “an exceptionally strong woman (who) has integrity in spades.”
In contrast, what happened to the Kleins for taking exactly the same kind of principled stand Sophie Theallet has?
They have been castigated as horrible specimens of bigotry, fined $135,000 by the government of Oregon, and put out of business.
I don’t begrudge Sophie Theallet’s right to make the choice she did. I disagree with her choice, and am unapologetically critical of it (freedom of speech and of the press), but I would never seek to use the coercive power of government to force her to make a dress for Melania Trump or anyone else. The First Amendment says she can “peaceably assemble” with anyone she wants to, and she shouldn’t be forced to do business with anyone she doesn’t want to. But neither should the Kleins.
The Kleins have exactly the same constitutional right Sophie Theallet does, the right of association, and on top of that they also have an even more sacred right, the right to the “free exercise” of religion, which is a right they possess not just one hour a week on Sunday mornings but 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including the hours they spend in a bakery they own.
As lesbian writer Tammy Bruce has pointed out, it’s a form of tyranny to require the Kleins to do work in violation of their conscience and a form of slavery to require them to do work against their own will.
Only a bigot of the worst sort would attempt to deprive the Kleins of not just one but two explicit constitutionally-guaranteed rights and violate the 13th Amendment in the process.
I will believe liberals and their demonizing screeches about the Kleins just as soon as they try to fine Sophie Theallet $135,000 and put her completely out of business.
Until then, they will continue to be, in my judgment, not only Christophobic bigots but hypocrites of the darkest dye.
I would readily sit back and enjoy the spectacle of Mrs Trump phoning the Theallet harpy and asking for a dress; getting refused; and then sueing the britches off the hypocrite. Yes, forgiveness can only be given after a trespass so bring one on! Let Sophie the needle and thread Bigot suffer the consequences just as Melissa and Aaron did.  I would drink a glass of Hartzview Honey Mead to that.

Now, I can hear the cries from the lefties already. They will say something about discriminating against 'classes' of people as opposed to just poor Mrs Trump. She isn't part of an approves 'victim' group. She gets hung out to dry.  It isn't as though Mrs Trump has run for Office.  She is simply closely associated with someone Sophie is bigotted against who has run for Office. Perhaps had Sophie refused to make dresses for Mrs Obama the lefties would have been up in arms and B.O. might have personally ordered her prosecution.

But Sophie the Seamstress gives her own reasons which are nothing to do with other people, classes or individual, but instead it is all about her and her 'values'; her 'art'. She can refuse to have her art, imbued as they are with her values, being bought and used by anyone at her choosing.  As Bryan points out, it is quite reasonable that she can pick and choose who buys and uses her stuff. The lefty excusers, however, do not allow the same rationale apply to bakers and florists. Sophie can pick and choose but others cannot. There lies the hypocricy.

So, across the waters we go to swinging London where some poor sod is threatened with swinging from a rope. The 'Tolerant', 'Diversity' brigade  from the Battalion of Light Hypocrites is hard at work showing their ubiquitous brand of 'acceptance'.
When did brown sauce and Union Jack knickers become racist?

The owner of a novelty gift shop called ‘Really British’ says he has been smeared as a RAY-CIST! by a bunch of bigoted, brain-dead Guardianistas. Chris Ostwald claims to be the target of an online campaign aimed at forcing him to change the shop’s name.
He’s accused of being ‘pro-Brexit’, as if that’s on a par with paedophilia, and has been hit with a boycott.
The store only opened at the end of November, but Chris has already lost one member of staff who resigned after her first day because she was fed up with the abuse. And she’s Spanish.

People have been walking in to the shop, on Muswell Hill Broadway, in North London, simply to complain about its alleged ‘racism’. He’s been warned that the place will be picketed to deter potential customers.

From the furious reaction on anti-social media, you’d think Chris was selling National Front T-shirts, BNP baseball caps and signs reading ‘No blacks, no dogs, no Irish’.
All he’s doing is flogging quintessentially British nick-nacks and souvenirs, such as brown sauce, London Underground tea-towels, Union Jack knickers, Prince Charles’s favourite socks and models of the Queen.

Mind you, the mere sight of our national flag is enough to give these Left-wing mentalists an attack of the screaming ab-dabs.
Chris says he was forced to take down two Union flags for fear of reprisals. How long before some self-appointed social justice warrior decides to lob a brick through the window?

A Facebook page called Muswell Hill and Friends provides a forum for this confected ‘anti-racist’ rubbish. Some of the protests are hilarious.

One nutter wrote: ‘Like many people I live in London because of its international nature, and for me having a big sign saying “Really British” makes me feel you’re implying that other businesses in the area are therefore somehow “not really British”.

‘Some will no doubt say I’m over-sensitive but I can’t help thinking that given the recent divisive referendum and the current political climate you might have chosen a more inclusive name in 2016.’

Nurse!
No, m'boy, I would not say you are oversensitive. I would say you were a malicious little twerp.
OK, so this could be a publicity stunt designed to get some free advertising for Chris’s new venture. He certainly seems to be enjoying the attention. But I have no doubt the rabid reaction he describes is genuine.

We lived down the hill from the Broadway for 12 years, so I’m familiar with the area. It’s where the Davies brothers — Ray and Dave — mainstays of the Kinks, that most English and proudly working class of pop groups, grew up. Chris even sells Muswell Hillbillies mugs, after the band’s 1971 album of the same name.
Oz Malicious

Muswell Hill has always had pretensions, though. It’s one of the posher parts of the London Borough of Haringey, which voted 75 per cent to Remain in June.

Like its near neighbour Crouch End, it’s home to people who can’t afford to live in super-affluent, artsy-fartsy Hampstead and Highgate. Consequently, house prices have gone through the roof. A bog-standard semi will set you back over £1 million.

These days it’s been colonised by Guardian-reading middle-class professionals, who can afford the mortgage payments. And they are precisely the kind of folk who find any hint of patriotism not only ‘racist’ but borderline Nazi.

I just wish they were a little more inventive with their invective. Their knee-jerk inclination is to scream ‘RAY-CIST!’ at anyone who offends their sensibilities. It’s the all-purpose insult intended to silence those who disagree with their political agenda.

You voted Leave?

RAY-CIST!
Think immigration is too high?
RAY-CIST!
Don’t believe in climate change?
Er, RAY-CIST!
The whole ‘racism’ slur is so tiresome and predictable that it has become utterly meaningless.
But it’s not difficult to imagine them going out of their tiny Chinese minds — to borrow an expression from the late Denis Healey — over a shop called Really British in the heart of Remain country.
It’s a daily reminder, as they trek to the health food cafe for their quinoa-infused soya wheatgrass wossnames, that they LOST.
Boo-hoo.
How on earth, otherwise, can anyone get outraged about a suburban novelty shop, six miles from the centre of our capital city, selling British bric-a-brac, memorabilia and models of the Queen and flying the Union flag? It’s deranged.
In the normal course of events, I wouldn’t take much notice of ‘social media storms’. But this one is directed at defaming a small businessman and destroying his livelihood unless he falls into line and changes the name of his shop.
And it is also an illustration of the post-Brexit vote pantomime in microcosm. The Remoaners don’t really have any convincing reasons to stay in the sclerotic, corrupt and currently imploding European Union.
In fact, the noisy attempts to derail Brexit have almost nothing to do with the benefits or otherwise of being a member of the EU.
No, it’s all about them.
Ranting and raving about Leave voters being racist, ignorant and gullible scum of the earth is simply another way of reinforcing their own inflated opinion of themselves as morally superior beings. It’s why Chris Ostwald’s shop has been singled out for self-righteous abuse, too.

By smearing him as a RAY-CIST! these potty, po-faced protesters are burnishing their right-on credentials. They may be Muswell Hillbillies but — unlike those ghastly Little Englanders who wave the Union flag and voted for Brexit — they want everyone to know that first and foremost they are caring, compassionate ‘citizens of the world’.

To adapt Ray Davies, from the title track of that 1971 Kinks album:

I’m a Muswell Hillbilly boy,

But my heart lies in old West Somalia.

Makes you proud to be British.
It is enough to drive a chap to drink, so I heartily recommend (hmmmm, going outside the Tavern, I know) a splendid little tipple as mentioned at the beginning.
A blend of premium Tasmanian honey, apples and cloves, cinnamon resulting in a rich luscious creamy Honey Mead.

In fact, have a look. They may even send you some if you ask them nicely.

  1. These people are truly exhausting are they not. If they weren't doing such damage, they could be safely ignored.

    1. Yes. But the buggers that run the 'Tribunals' and the Prosecutors' Offices just love to go in to bat for them just to take down some poor sod.

Our Bouncer is a gentleman of muscle and guile. His patience has limits. He will check you at the door.

The Tavern gets rowdy visitors from time to time. Some are brain dead and some soul dead. They attack customers and the bar staff and piss on the carpets. Those people will not be allowed in anymore. So... Be Nice..
