Stupid, vicious politician of the month

It was quiet in the Tavern and I managed a few minutes to catch up on the news and views. A copy of the Spectator came to hand.

It is quite usual to see commentary on political goings-on, but one recent item (11 April) caught my attention.

The Scots have lagged behind somewhat on the looney stakes. They have made little mark contributing to the feminist hysteria. Their 'green' record is hidden below the North Sea oil seams. They have focused on becoming 'Independant' and developing the SNP (Scottish Nationalist Party) although they failed to get the votes in a Referendum on the matter.

Their 'leader', a charming scottish bogan, Nicola Sturgeon, who refuses to wear a manly kilt as it might disempower her if the wind blew it up, has picked a doozy of a stand to take.

I'll crack a better smile for sixpence.

Pensions.

It seems she has vowed to block any attempt to increase the pensions of old folk nationally because..... wait for it....it would be 'unfair' to the scots, whom she claims die earlier than the English.

I noticed that she does not mention that it might be unfair on men generally on that basis as men die earlier than women as a rule. But heck, she would be shooting down a feminist 'gap' myth doing that.

Unfair.  Of course. The longer you live, the more you will get ! How dare the English live longer. (But don't say that about women, of course).

So, how did the lady arrive at her astounding claim?

The idea came from a 'study' (yes, I know, roll those eyes back) by the Glasgow Centre for Population Health. Dated 2006.

That study 'found' that the (male) life expectancy in a place called Calton was 54, which is less than many third world countries.

Figures were collated from 1998 to 2002 (so they are at least 13 years out of date, but heck you have to dig deep to get just the right statistics for your argument) and are exaggerated by the presence of a large number of 'Hostels' for drug addicts which other areas send there.

For Glasgow as a whole the life expectancy was 73 for men and 78.5 for women.

This, while up on 54 was in actual fact still the lowest of any Council area in Great Britain.

Taking Scotland as a whole (no, not hole. I ha' some scottish blood in ma veins) the actual, up to date (well 2013) life expectancy was 76.8 for men and 80.9 for women.

In 'England', the life expectancy 79.2 (men) and 82.9 (women).

So, what we have is a cherry picking, nit-picking, mean scottish woman almost but not quite there in the Harriet Harman mode,  prepared to punish all old people just so that she can smirk and claim victimhood.

Nicola has some way to go to reach the depths of say Hillary Clinton who has started on her path to the American Presidency by parking her bus in a disabled spot, but give her time. ...er whoops. Better be quick before she reaches pension age where she will go on and on reaping the benefits long after all the menfolk have died. But we won't mention that.

SILENCE ! SHUT UP ! Or Else....

It is not all gay conversation and getting high on fine Ale in the Tavern. Sometimes there is an air of disquiet. Nay, despondancy.  As it has been this week. A sombre mood wafted through the doors  from locally down in the Hillary Village below and from the Big Island to the north and from overseas, as told by several customers who dropped by. They were in need of a few pints of Grace, perhaps intravenously.

Me too. It had me hopping around, I can tell you.

First it was the local events and my friend Graham told a wearying tale. He was followed by the lovely, feisty Miranda Devine with her horror stories; and she in turn by a new customer, Penny Nance.  Penny was beside herself.

We live in an unprecedented age of Communication, but the forces from guess which depth of the Abyss are trying - and succeeding - in stifling debate and forcing distress, dismay, SILENCE and attacks on the very security of people all around us. That is to say from the ordinary man-in-the-street to our Institutions of Higher Learning and down even into the lower reaches of out childrens' schools. 

Look into the Abyss and the Abyss will Scream back at you.

Let us take each in turn.

My friend Graham Preston, a calm, quiet, caring and courageous man came down from Queensland. Let him tell us what happened:

It was quite a day today in Hobart. I arrived outside the abortion "clinic" at 7.45 and who should show up about ten minutes later but 'the shouting lady'. As she came rushing up from behind me she said, I've got 15 minutes before I have to catch my bus, and then proceeded to stand spreadeagled directly in front of me using a scarf to try and stop people seeing the signs.

She wasn't shouting though which was good and I said to her, so I see you are still opposed to free speech. She said she was not against free speech, just against people telling lies - she claimed that the 8-week-old baby in the photo I was holding was just a "zygote". She needs to check her facts however as the zygote stage is just the brief very first period of fertilisation after the sperm has penetrated the egg.

During all of this Penny and her husband Ray, the two local supporters (from Geeveston, about an hour south of Hobart), who had contacted me and were prepared to risk arrest, arrived. Penny was born with a condition that means she is a very tiny lady but as I found out, that certainly doesn't deter her! Penny stood between Ray and I holding the baby photo with her head just poking over the top. The opposition soon left and .. 

we had a couple of people stop and give some words of encouragement which was good.

About 8.20 a tv cameraman arrived and soon after the first police car pulled up. A policewoman asked us if we realised we were within 200m of an abortion clinic (200m?!) and were we going to move away? We said we were not going to move and she and her partner went back to the car.

Then another couple of cars arrived and there was much discussion amongst them. A policeman went into the clinic and then came out to us and said that the clinic hours were 9.00am to 5.00pm and we could not be there during those hours. If we didn't go then we would be arrested. Again we said we would not be leaving.

Police cars came and went and there was much more discussion. Then at about 9.15 a group of about six police, including a senior officer, walked up to us. We were again told that we were within the 150m exclusion zone and we would be arrested if we did not leave immediately. 

I said, how could we be arrested for promoting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights? 

Are you saying that Article 3, 'Everyone has the right to life' is an anti-abortion statement? 

..and the policeman said, Yes. 

I said, Good, I will be glad to hear you say that in court. 

He then said that we were all under arrest and that we were to go to the police cars. At that point, I wished we had someone taking photos for us. Penny, whose eyesight is not good and who has some difficulty walking stopped at the gutter before stepping into the road. Ray was holding one hand but she asked if someone could hold her other hand. The senior policeman was standing next to her so her took her hand as she crossed the road. It would have made a great picture.

We were taken separately to the main police station and I did not see the others again. Penny and Ray were processed quite quickly and were allowed to leave. I was locked in a semi-underground caged holding cell for an hour. Then I was taken inside and told that I had two outstanding charges against me as well as the charge arising from today. I replied that I did not have any such charges but they said I did and showed me the charge sheet. Rather incredibly two charges had been laid against me for when I was outside the "clinic" on September 5 and 8 last year. 

(This was after the police offered no evidence against me at the trial on September 4.) 

I was not told at the time I was being charged and nothing was ever sent to me to say I had been charged! Apparently the hearing for this was supposed to have been held in March but since I hadn't heard about it I naturally hadn't shown up!

Anyway, the police say I now know about the charges so I am still facing them. Incredible. 

So I was told I was going to be held until I went before a magistrate to see if I would be given bail. 

I was taken off, strip searched and held in a cell for four hours. 

I then got to see a duty solicitor. She said that the police were willing to give me bail on two conditions - one that I not go back within 150m of the place until after the hearing and two, that I agree with a residency requirement - that is that I agree to reside at the place where I am now staying in Hobart until the hearing as I am considered a flight risk due to not showing up for the hearing in March!!

If I didn't agree to those terms I would be held in custody until the hearing. That was a bit of a shock - as nice as Tasmania is, I'm not too keen on staying here for months and overstaying the hospitality I've been given! So I managed to do some fast talking and the duty solicitor said she would go back to the prosecutor but she didn't like my chances. Thankfully however the prosecutor had some good sense and I was granted bail and I can now stay either at this address or my home address in Brisbane.

So I got out about 4.00pm to be confronted by a couple of reporters and camera crews. I did an interview but as far as we can tell it has not been aired. I then contacted Penny and Ray. Unfortunately we have been given different dates to appear in court to give our pleas - theirs is May 25 and mine is June 17. I presume they will require me to be there because of the mess-up. We'll have to try and get our court appearances on together. We still have not got the lawyer situation sorted out - a different QC has indicated interest, which is really good, so I will have to get in touch with him. We are still needing a solicitor which is really important.

Just last week I received a call from the Right to Life group in the ACT to tell me that there are plans for a 150m bubble zone to be introduced there around places where abortions are done. So, just as we expected, this law is likely to spread and thus it makes it all the more important that this law is challenged as soon as possible. 

I'm planning to stay on in Tasmania until Monday evening when I have booked to fly back to Brisbane. Over the next few days I will go to places around Hobart (but not within 150m of the abortion "clinic"!) to try and keep the issue alive. We'll see what happens.

I had been at the same spot, the same day, but at a different time and was not confronted. I have a Rosary and I am not afraid to use it. 

I stood again on Tuesday, as is my usual vigil; in fact I knelt  in the street and prayed.

I stood with Graham again today at a different corner in the city where an occasional encouragement was offered by passers-by amid the sour glances and spiteful remarks, threats and completely stupid epithets shouted at us from cars and pedestrians.

One shakes one's head with disgust at the complete waste of human life and the careless attitudes all around.

Another shaking his head and shouting disgust was a Trades Union 'Heavy', well known in Hobart, who walked by. He was as one can expect. 

The fight goes on.

WE all laughed when we heard about the Oxford University feminist conference at which clapping was banned because it might trigger anxiety in certain neurotic individuals. Instead, the UK’s National Union of Students asked the audience to use “jazz hands” to indicate applause, that is, waggle hands about in the air, silently.

You really couldn’t invent a better parody of new age feminist craziness.

But the problem is that it’s not a joke. 

One of the world’s most prestigious universities had succumbed to the tyranny of “trigger warnings”, which are really an instrument of control for the authoritarian Left.

The aim is to infantilise university students and protect them from anything deemed to cause “offence”, whether it’s the sound of two hands clapping or “domestic violence” themes in The Great Gatsby.

Trigger warnings are just another tool for one group of people on campus to ensure ideas they don’t like are excluded.

We’re lucky a healthy dose of Australian common sense has shielded us from the worse excesses of nanny leftists. But it’s only a matter of time.

There is a new mood of intellectual oppression on our campuses. 

Ideas or speech that might cause offence are shut down.

Those who dare to express offensive ideas or are even suspected of harbouring unsound thoughts are actively persecuted.

From poetry professor Barry Spurr being hounded out of Sydney University to the disruption of a lecture on the ethics of warfare by Lt Colonel Richard Kemp to the ousting of climate sceptic scientist Bob Carter from his adjunct professorship at Queensland’s James Cook University, we see contrary ideas silenced in the very place where they should be freely debated.

Kemp fell victim to the tactic of “no-platforming” imported from the UK, in which protesters deny a public platform to opinions they dislike by kicking up such a stink that the speaker cannot be heard.

In this case Kemp, a retired commander of the UK armed forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, who in the past has expressed sympathy for the Israel Defence Forces, attempted to speak about the ethics of warfare last month, at a Sydney University event organised by the Australian Union of Jewish Students.

He was barely into his speech when a group of pro-Palestinian students forced their way in, screaming abuse though a megaphone and drowning him out.

They stood between Kemp and the audience, yelling “Richard Kemp, you can’t hide, you support genocide”, and made it impossible for him to continue. When security guards tried to eject the protesters, two left-wing academics, Associate Professor Jake Lynch, the vehemently anti-Israel director of the university’s Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, and senior lecturer Nicholas Riemer, intervened, and tried to “intimidate the security officers into allowing the abusive demonstration to continue,” wrote Kemp.

Sydney University is reportedly to send “show cause” letters this week to some of those involved. But who cares. The damage was done.

It’s one thing to protest, it’s quite another thing to shut down a lecture. But Sydney University’s craven capitulation to campus totalitarians was even more egregious in the case of poetry professor Barry Spurr. 

Someone hacked into Spurr’s private email account and leaked private correspondence in which he used politically incorrect slang to describe Muslims, Asians and women. Spurr said the comments were just part of a part of a “whimsical linguistic game” with a friend. But, when published in leftist webzine New Matilda, the private emails were judged racist, sexist, misogynistic and Islamophobic.

Mobs of campus Trotskyists screamed through megaphones outside Fisher Library that Spurr was “racist filth” and a “vile bigot”. They demanded his resignation, descended on his office and daubed graffiti on the door. He was suspended, banned from campus and forced to resign in December. 

When I defended Spurr on Radio National recently I was told by David Hetherington, executive director of progressive think tank Per Capita,.. 

that the university could not tolerate professors who held improper thoughts: 

“In position of social and organisational leadership people are not expected to hold discriminatory personal opinions.”

Hello Big Brother.

One of Sydney University’s most famous academics was John Anderson, Challis Professor of Philosophy from 1927 to 1958, and a champion of atheism and free love. He criticised war memorials and wanted to banish religions from schools. By the standards of the time his views were seen as offensive and corrupting, and there was pressure from the conservative establishment, from parliament and the churches to have him sacked.

To its great credit the university resisted all attempts to silence Anderson. Now the shoe is on the other foot and the Left is found wanting. Unlike Voltaire, if they disagree with what you say they will fight to the death to prevent you saying it.

Students of the future may look back at this age of jazz hands and see the gesture in a more sinister light. Rather than being a thoughtful form of applause, jazz hands are a cartoonish symbol of cultural distress. 

Wave your hands in the air and silently scream.

And overseas? Is there hope there? Not on your life.

Silence it seems is now on the Curriculum at School.

What if I told you that pro-lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) activists are working tirelessly to infiltrate schools and influence children across the country? 

What if I said activists were taunting and bullying kids in public school and shaming them regarding their religious beliefs that favor traditional marriage? 

Most parents do not want to hear this, but it is a reality they must face. Gay activist are going around you to get to your children, and schools are complicit.

The “Day of Silence,” to be held next Friday, April 17, is part of that effort. It is a project of the radical Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), which is the leading pro-LGBT national education organization working inside schools in all 50 states.

On the Day of Silence, GLSEN encourages students to go to school and remain silent all day. Their website says the day seeks to “call attention to the silencing effect of anti-LGBT bullying and harassment in schools.”   

And therein lies the irony, doesn’t it?

In light of all we know today, how the pro-LGBT radicals are bullying Christians into silence, it is almost comical to hear this propaganda still being peddled to our children. 

If we want to talk about a silencing effect, we can talk about the recent Indiana brouhaha and the ensuing hysteria over Memories Pizza owner Crystal O’Connor telling a viciously deceptive reporter they could not cater a same-sex “wedding” because it would conflict with their religious beliefs. The event included the infamously tolerant tweet from a high school coach in Indiana who said, “Who’s going to Walkerton, IN to burn down #memoriespizza w me?” 

That’ll promote silence to be sure. 

The pizza shop had to close down for several days.

How about the silencing of Mozilla’s former CEO, Brendan Eich? Or the bullying of Barronelle Stutzman, the florist who is at risk of losing everything she has, including her home, her family business, and her life savings, because of her religious beliefs on marriage?

The blatant harassment of Christians has gotten so bad that many — including liberal, pro-gay marriage commentator Kirsten Powers — are starting to wonder, “Who needs the protection here?”

But that’s a rhetorical question. Powers and everyone else know the answer. 

We are at the point where they are ready to put Christians in jail if they don’t abide by the pro-LGBT mantra.

The intimidation in schools is not as militant, but it is just as subversive. One regularly hears stories from both high school and college kids. Concerned Women for America (CWA) has started Young Women for America (YWA) chapters in colleges around the country to help strengthen and equip young conservative leaders. One young lady joined her school’s YWA chapter after an incredibly intimidating experience in one of her freshmen classes.

On the first day of class, the history professor asked students to raise their hands if they supported “gay marriage.”  Most students raised their hands but many didn’t. Then he pressed on, “and who opposes gay marriage?” It took great courage from this young woman to raise her hand. The professor asked the class to have a look. The other students knew that the liberal professor held all the power and their grade. They were afraid. She was the only one to raise her hand.

Of course, this brave young lady heard later from other students in the class who believed like her, but who would never raise their hands.

High school students share similar stories. A young woman named Madeline tells of being shamed by teachers and peers for not wearing the pro-gay marriage lavender t-shirt. Others in her peer group wanted to opt out, but they knew they would catch heat from other students for not conforming. I have even heard stories of kids lying on surveys given in schools about the issue because they are afraid of repercussions from faculty and administrators.

These were all real “days of silence,” and viewpoint discrimination is the program.

Here’s an idea: how about GLSEN doing an effort against bullying, period? We could all get behind that. I despise children being bullied for being “gay” just as much as for being obese or for being from another country, or simply being different or for whatever reason. How about we teach our kids, “Be ye kind one to another.”

But these activists are not interested in stopping bullying — they actually want to bully anyone who dares oppose their opinion, as we have seen. 

The Day of Silence is an opportunity to make sure any other view is completely silenced.

They would use different language, to be sure. They would say they are combating “homophobia.” But they consider traditional Christian teaching to be homophobic, and, therefore, if your child is a Christian, they will be under enormous pressure to ignore their faith in this area or risk intense ridicule and contempt (or, dare we say, hatred).

The most dangerous thing about all this is that schools are complicit in disallowing debate. 

This is why no parent will be notified of this day or most other pro-LGBT activities in advance. The educational institutions are so politicized that they will and must abide by political correctness at all times.

That is one of the many reasons why parents must stay informed and involved in their children’s education. There is an effort to combat the Day of Silence called the “‘Day of Silence’ Walk Out” where parents are encouraged to keep their children home. 

 

Most parents don’t know about it, so we must spread the word. Only by staying involved will we be able to combat these efforts and train our kids to navigate the turbulent waters of today’s increasingly secularized, hostile culture.

I say we replace the “Day of Silence” with a day of kindness in which kids are taught unity and love regardless of viewpoint and not division and political correctness. No one should be silent about that.

As you see, I have little to add to what Miranda and Penny and Graham had to say.

But I pray.

First Hubris, then Nemesis

The world slides, slowly at first, down a slippery slope, gaining speed as it goes. We have seen it before. The customers in the Tavern stock up on good Grace, armouring their souls for the coming debacle. They 'weaponise' their souls for a battle which is surely coming.

(I will bring a conversation about that very soon)

From the Land of the Free we see that slide infecting many other lands. What was once a bastion of freedom is now quite quickly becoming an ill-governed rabble of totalitarian, anti-'liberal' (remember when that word meant something quite different?), anti-Christian thuggery and dissembling.

'Hope and Change'.

Remember that mantra? It swept Obama to power.

A Nation which was the richest, most powerful and basically 'Good' nation was looking to be 'changed'. To what, exactly? 

It never was a particularly intelligent nation. Clever, creative, innovative, yes. Intelligent? Hmmmm. Good? Yes, in the main. But that is becoming a memory.

The problem all 'Good' people face is Hubris. One needs at least some intelligent insight to counter it. 

These past years and months have seen not just the moral decline of America but a concerted effort on the part of the White House to deceive even its own population, and the rest of the world along with it.

The verbal battering of the soul from Obama softens up the western world.

He speaks with a forked-tongue, exhaulting Islam and decrying Christianity. He takes the centre stage at an Easter Prayer Breakfast to decry the 'christian' lack of love, while overseas he is claiming that Islam was always there in America, building the nation.

I do not recall Hopalong Cassidy's side-kick, Ali Obaba. Maybe someone might.

So what?, one might ask. It isn't as though the ordinary man in the street is affected.

Oh Yeah?

Barack Obama, during his Cairo speech, said: “I know, too, that Islam has always been a part of America’s history.”

According to recent reports, a Conway, N.H., man was forced out of his position as a lacrosse coach at Fryeburg Academy after sharing an open letter to Barack Obama about the influence of Islam on the world. 

The letter has been circulating since 2009 and was reportedly written in response to a speech in which Obama declared Islam an integral part of America’s past.

Of course, Obama has made similar statement since then; and when Scott Lees received an email from a friend with the open letter attached, he felt it was relevant enough to share with his Facebook friends.

The letter as posted reads:

Dear Mr. Obama:

Have you ever seen a Muslim hospital?

Have you heard a Muslim orchestra?

Have you seen a Muslim band march in a parade?

Have you witnessed a Muslim charity?

Have you seen Muslims shak[ing] hands with Muslim Girl Scouts?

Have you seen a Muslim Candy Striper?

Have your seen a Muslim do anything that contributes positively to the American way of life????

The answer is no, you have not. Just ask yourself WHY???

Were those Muslims that were in America when the Pilgrims first landed? Funny, I thought they were Native American Indians.

Were those Muslims that celebrated the first Thanksgiving day? Sorry again, those were Pilgrims and Native American Indians.

Can you show me one Muslim signature on the United States Constitution? Declaration of Independence? Bill of Rights? Didn’t think so.

Did Muslims fight for this country’s freedom from England? No.

Did Muslims fight during the Civil War to free the slaves in America? No, they did not. In fact, Muslims to this day are still the largest traffickers in human slavery. Your own half-brother, a devout Muslim, still advocates slavery himself, even though Muslims of Arabic descent refer to black Muslims as “pug nosed slaves.” Says a lot of what the Muslim world really thinks of your family’s “rich Islamic heritage,” doesn’t it Mr. Obama?

Where were Muslims during the Civil Rights era of this country? Not present. There are no pictures or media accounts of Muslims walking side by side with Martin Luther King, Jr. or helping to advance the cause of Civil Rights.

Where were Muslims during this country’s Woman’s Suffrage era? Again, not present. In fact, devout Muslims demand that women are subservient to men in the Islamic culture. So much so, that often they are beaten for not wearing the ‘hajib’ or for talking to a man who is not a direct family member or their husband. Yep, the Muslims are all for women’s rights, aren’t they?

Where were Muslims during World War II? They were aligned with Adolf Hitler. The Muslim grand mufti himself met with Adolf Hitler, reviewed the troops and accepted support from the Nazis in killing Jews.

Finally, Mr. Obama, where were Muslims on Sept. 11th, 2001? If they weren’t flying planes into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon or a field in Pennsylvania killing nearly 3,000 people on our own soil, they were rejoicing in the Middle East.

No one can dispute the pictures shown from all parts of the Muslim world celebrating on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC and other cable news networks that day. Strangely, the very “moderate” Muslims who’s asses you bent over backwards to kiss in Cairo, Egypt on June 4th were stone cold silent post 9-11. To many Americans, their silence has meant approval for the acts of that day.

And THAT, Mr. Obama, is the “rich heritage” Muslims have here in America…

Oh, I’m sorry, I forgot to mention the Barbary Pirates. They were Muslims.

And now we can add November 5, 2009 – the slaughter of American soldiers at Fort Hood by a Muslim major, a doctor and a psychiatrist, who was supposed to be counseling soldiers returning from battle in Iraq and Afghanistan.

That, Mr. Obama is the “Muslim heritage” in America!

P.S. Now, you can add the Boston Marathon bombings, too…

“I just thought it was an interesting article,” he said of his decision to post it, adding that none of his students engaged with the post at all.

“It’s not like it went viral,” he explained. “It’s not like everyone and their brother saw it.”

Nevertheless, he was told he would lose his position – one for which he earns about $7 per hour and holds simply because he enjoys coaching kids – and ultimately negotiated a resignation so that a dismissal would not follow him to his next job.

By all accounts, Lees was an effective and well-liked coach who took his team from heavy losses to playoff berths. The 23-year veteran coach said this incident marks his first termination from any job.

As Bill pointed out, we fail or refuse to see the problem at our peril and having reminders helps. 

Not for Obama and the raft of rent-seeking scum cronies with whom he surrounds himself though. 

There’s one specific artifact — and one particular person — in the White House that seems to have caused some discomfort in the Obama administration. You might recall the bust of Winston Churchill, which was given on loan from the British government to the White House after the September 11th attacks back in 2001, where it remained for the rest of George W. Bush’s tenure as president, according to Eagle Rising. The British offered to extend the loan of Churchill’s bust for Barack Obama’s presidency, as well. But Obama refused. So the sculpture was returned to the custody of the United Kingdom and now finds its home at the British Ambassador’s Residence.

There is one more bust of Churchill that remains in the White House – this one is displayed outside The Treaty Room, but there’s little chance Obama will be hanging out there, considering he has little interest in actually discussing treaties with Congress.

Nonetheless, it is perhaps this quote from Winston Churchill that makes him less than welcome in the White House:

“How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy… A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement, the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyzes the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step, and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it (Islam) has vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome.”

After all, it was Barack Obama who said “the future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.”

However, there is another Churchill quote which Obama best heed: “An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last.”

Well this is certainly coming to pass right now.

Obama confuses slander with truth.

Obama has been lauding his own skills in 'negotiation' with Iran. Iran is surely a danger. Not that Obama sees it that way. It is a Muslim country, so therefore it must be OK. OK enough to have a nuclear bomb. Obama and his talk-from-the-side-of-his-mouth side-kick Kerry revel in their 'Peace in our time' claims. 

It is pure Hubris.

The Iranian leadership is even more dismissive than Hitler.

So it's unanimous then. Obama is lying.

Beginning earlier this month and in the days since, Obama and his advisers have attempted to portray the negotiations as major step forward. During an appearance in the Rose Garden on April 2, Obama said the U.S. and its allies have “reached a historic understanding with Iran.”

Khamenei does not agree. “There was no need to take a position” on the supposed deal before today, Khamenei said. “The officials are saying that nothing has been done yet and nothing is obligatory. I neither agree nor disagree [with any deal].”

"What has been done so far does not guarantee an agreement, nor its contents, nor even that the negotiations will continue to the end," Khamenei elaborated. 

"I neither support nor oppose it," Khamenei reportedly said of the proposed deal. "Everything is in the details; it may be that the deceptive other side wants to restrict us in the details."

It gets much worse.

When Obama announced that a “framework” for the deal was in place earlier this month, the administration released a fact sheet purportedly showing the agreed upon “parameters.” The White House said the terms outlined in the fact sheet “reflect the significant progress that has been made in discussions between the P5+1, the European Union, and Iran.”

Khamenei would beg to differ.

“The White House put out a statement just a few hours after our negotiators finished their talks...this statement, which they called a 'fact sheet', was wrong on most of the issues," Khamenei said, according to Reuters. Khamenei added that the fact sheet, which doesn’t match Iran’s understanding, exposes America’s “devilish” intentions.

The deal US President Barack Obama claims to have sewn up with Iran over its nuclear program — though Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei irritatingly says there is as yet no deal at all — may truly be historic....

It might be the point at which it became clear that, for the moment at least, Western civilisation could no longer deal with the proliferating security challenges around the world eating away at what was left of the global security order....

Three American presidents, Bill Clinton, George W, Bush and Obama, have declared that Iran must never possess nuclear weapons and that if it tries to acquire them the US will act, if necessary with military force, to stop them. We now know that Obama was just kidding.

This agreement guarantees Iran will acquire nuclear weapons eventually… [F]rom this point it looks as though the Iranians have achieved enormous strategic gains at very little cost…

Perhaps the key analytical question is this: 

is the fecklessness of present American policy entirely the fault of Obama, 

or does it reflect a deeper malaise in the US and in Western civilisation generally?

The West today confronts five profound security challenges.

They are: Iran; global terrorism as evidenced by Islamic State and al-Qa’ida; Russian territorial aggression in eastern Europe; Chinese military assertiveness in disputed territories in the South and East China seas; and the spread of nuclear weapons…

In none of them is the West prevailing, or even playing much of a central role…

Iran is now the dominant political and military force in Iraq. Its proxies have been successful in overthrowing a legitimate government in Yemen. It has established permanent control of a large slab of Lebanon through Hezbollah. It has kept its ally, Bashar al-Assad, in power in Syria… While the negotiations were ongoing, a Revolutionary Guards commander, Reza Naqdi, commented that..  

“erasing Israel from the map’’ was “non-negotiable”.

Supreme leader Khamenei finished a big public gathering with the declaration: “Yes, death to America.”

It is worth googling Iran’s written constitution, with its commitment to “fulfilling the ideological mission of jihad” and its determination to forge leadership of all Muslims worldwide.

In the recent agreement, or framework, there is nothing about Iran’s international behaviour, nothing about its sponsorship of terrorism, no limitation on its missile program, nothing about threatening to wipe another nation off the map, as though it would be bad form to consider such language and behaviour relevant in assessing whether a nation should possess the ability to produce nuclear weapons... 

Nemesis comes as a thief in the night.

Lest anyone yawns or think we shall muddle through, the outcome could be catastrophic.

This is the most unstable region in the world. This is insane.

What we have done in Europe and the Pacific elsewhere is a way to prevent proliferation is to offer our protection and to say that the United States, especially our Navy, our offshore power, is here. What we have done is to demonstrate a willingness to go over and to create a hegemonic Iran that scares the Arabs to death and that will cause a nuclear reaction and proliferation, but that’s a catastrophe; that is not a strategic ... objective.

Refusing Service

A pizza shop owner does not want to be part of the 'Gay' culture and is forced to shut down. A baker who does not want to support the gay 'culture' is driven to bankruptcy. A florist is uprooted by gay violence and has to 'retire'.

A fine lady, my good friend Moira, (of the Harp ) was in the bar making a view clear with a question.

How many more people of conscience will be persecuted over having a conscience?

Persecution is trivial in this country, because it's done through shunning and shaming, and deliberate economic destruction via frivolous lawsuits, rather than via beheading or bullets,

It is still intolerable.

Businesses can serve whomsoever they wish to. And refuse service as they deem fit too. 

And they need support when they stand up and fight.

The family that runs a small Indiana pizza shop continues to be the target of attacks by people from across the state and the country — people incensed that their definition of “tolerance” isn’t embraced by the two owners of the small business — owners who dared to say they will run their business in accordance with their strongly held religious beliefs.  

Yet, despite the criticism and the threats they say they’ve endured over the past few days since expressing their support for Indiana’s “religious freedom” law, the O’Connors say they will re-open Memories Pizza.

But heck, let's not pick on gays or think they are the only vicious folk around. We have Universities that teach others, non-gay students, how to hate too. 

Some gay folk are sensible. We get them in the Tavern and are happy to serve them.

The Pizza shop owner has so far had near to $Million pledged by people who support a Principled stand.

It is not even the case that the Pizza shop owner actually refused anyone service. No gay person has been turned away. Gays can easily buy a pizza there. Not that you would have gathered that from the initial media reports that condemned the innocent owner.

It was a 'reporter' seeking a 'story' and trying to sow division that caused it.

This Tavern has a few rules of behaviour too.

The customers crowded onto the patio to watch this fellow perform in the car park.

There are the mad, the bad and the sad. I am not sure which category he falls into. But my customers were glad to see the calmness we expect from the Christian Gentleman.  It was quite an entertainment.

The angry man was 'Uncomfortable' around Christians. 

He cried out that we should 'not Tolerate' Christianity.

It is easy to pick on old ladies too.

Barronelle Stutzman, a Christian florist, referred her friend and long-time customer to other florists because she could not in good conscience provide full wedding support for a same-sex wedding. Although the couple received flowers, the Washington State Attorney General, and later, the same-sex couple, sued Barronelle.

The court found her liable for violating the Washington Law Against Discrimination and ruled that both the state and the couple may collect damages and attorneys' fees from Barronelle's business and personal assets. 

This woman is going to lose her home and livelihood as a result of her Christian faith.

It is not just privately owned businesses that get 'trouble' from the bad and the mad. Universities and schools do too, although the Universities seem to teach their own madness and badness.

A Muslim father stormed into a Catholic school and launched a tirade of racial abuse at teachers after two teenage pupils were banned from lessons for refusing to shave their beards.

Mohammad Liaqat even assaulted the headmaster during the rampage in which he hurled insults at white teachers in front of shocked parents as they picked up their children.

The 34-year-old objected to the strict uniform policy at Mount Carmel High School which stated that pupils could not have beards.

 Liaqat launched into a 'racist tirade' at white members of staff after 14-year-old boys were told they could not keep their facial hair, police said.

After being arrested, Liaqat was told to stay away from the school, so went to another school nearby where he continued his rant.

When Jeff Brown, headmaster of St Oswald's Roman Catholic Primary School, asked him to move on, Liaqat shoulder barged him, Burnley Crown Court was told.

He has a child at the secondary school in Accrington, Lancashire, but was not related to the two 14-year-olds who wanted to have facial hair for religious reasons. 

It seems he was 'fighting' on behalf of others, just like the madman in the car park. Mad people fight over nonsense. 

It is high time some Christians fought on behalf of others too. 

For Conscience.

The media is not on your side. The State is not on your side. The Courts are not on your side. Even the Univerities are not on your side. 

It is they who are stacking our Institutions with bigotted wreckers who care not a whit for good conscience.

But be assured that Christ is on your side.

There are some vociferous anti-Christians who may find out too late that St Peter has a few rules of entry too.
