Help yourself.

Self-help books have turned a corner and found reality. The Tavern Library has been considering some new books and sought suggestions.

Fortunately some of our less frequent customers provided us with some 'reviews' of books we had not seen before. And no wonder !

Rob started us off with a book of advice for those wanting a bit of toughening up.

Psychopaths of Glory —
Unlocking the Bastard Within.
Do you dream of a career in politics or big business but worry you lack ‘the right stuff’?
Do you find yourself unwilling to lie, cheat and screw other people over in the single-minded pursuit of your own selfish goals?
Then you’re probably one of the unfortunate 99 per cent of the population afflicted with a conscience.
Dr Martin Pournelle, himself an unbelievably callous prick, shows you how this evolutionary albatross can be overcome, guiding you step-by-step through the process of surgically modifying your prefrontal cortex using simple household tools and an ingenious series of exercises, ranging from breaking children’s toys to microwaving kittens, that will systematically transform you from bleeding heart into unfeeling monster.
If you can learn to Be Ruthless, Not Toothless™, the world’s your oyster — an oyster you’d happily eat alive in front of its horrified mate.
A good start. But Noel tried to do away with self-help books altogether....

You’re On Your Own, Pal;
How to Kick the Self-Help Book Habit
This book will be the last self-help book you will ever read.
It will take you step-by-step through the cold turkey phases: how to ignore agony aunts and bin Sunday supplements unread; how to hurry past high street bookshops; how to recognise and avoid other addicts; how to deploy...
non-introspective displacement strategies
..such as joining a Slut Walk or a Womyn's Collective.
After each chapter, the reader is exhorted ‘Now tear this chapter out and burn it’, a symbolic gesture designed to imprint his rejection of self-help literature.
For the benefit of weaker brethren, the book is printed on paper guaranteed to yellow quickly, and has a spine bound with exceptionally weak glue, so that it will fall apart by itself within a month of purchase.
Since the book is quite expensive, its self-destruction is a powerful aversion therapy against recidivist purchases.
Carolyn though still needed a bit of  girl-support and recommended...
I’m So Simple:
Coping with Anxiety-Deficit Today
With ever-mounting levels of anxiety in today’s hard-working, results-driven, 'Have it All' (tm) feminist world, those who think they have nothing to worry about can easily feel marginalised or of low self-worth.
Fortunately, this discreetly packaged manual, bursting with accessible tips, means you need no longer feel like the Norma No-moans: soon you’ll find you have just as much to fret about and
just as many emotional burdens as even
your most high-achieving Feminist friends!
Learn how to miss-manage your work-life balance via easy-to-follow tips, like the ones about plugging into excessively complex mobile technology situations; or really screwing your home-life by demanding that your husband does half of your work for you.  that are just so simple you’ll kick yourself you didn’t buy this book sooner.
You’ll start with Basic Obsessive Compulsive Disorder — yes, anyone can learn how to forget they’ve already turned off the iron or insist on asking 'him' if he is 'there yet' — and very quickly find yourself progressing to full-blown General Anxiety Disorder.
Soon you’ll be stressed along with the rest, no longer the Simple Simone on the sidelines.
Basil recognised that many people do not even acknowledge that they are deluded, like Carolyn and suggested...

Reality Sucks:
Making Friends with your Delusions
You’ll often hear ‘he’s away with the fairies’, or ‘she lives in a world of her own’, as if the workaday grind was all that mattered — a one-eyed perspective, potentially hurtful and limiting.
Great philosophers such as Plato and great writers, Shakespeare among them, have recognised
higher, more satisfying plane of existence
than the mundane one. Now their message has been updated for the 21st century by Natalie Blister, author of Let’s Hear It for the Ostrich.
Braving fact-based orthodoxy, Reality Sucks shows that embracing the truth of the imagination can open a pathway to selfhood.
The keynote is ‘I believe’, whether it’s that you’re a greater poet than Dante or that George Clooney is secretly in love with you, or that Women can Roar and Do anything a man can and Better.
Global Warmist? You can imagine yourself as rich as Davy Suzuki-Wan and believe all your own crap. You too can have a taxpayer paid sinecure, your own Foundation - and be banned from it by your wife and kids on the Board.
This book will demolish the barrier that divides the slave of objectivity from the fulfilled human being.
And Poppy, what a pet, realised that getting away means getting away from your own obnoxious self, and had just the right book.
Learning to Stand Your Really Awful Self.

Following up her critically acclaimed self-help guide Finding the Inner You, bestselling Scottish author Mary Stone presents a step-by-step guide to re-achieving a healthy level of distance from your deepest identity.
Packed with helpful diagrams and song recommendations, Learning to Stand Yourself is a vital guide for anyone oppressed by an incessant flood of self-help books and an often
misjudged desire to access the very essence of their own being.
Stone combines practical tips with long-term identity-suppressing techniques to help readers re-join the meaningless, everyday cycle of culture and commerce, one step at a time.

‘After reading Finding the Inner You I was disconcerted to realise that my deepest self is really quite irritating, as well as being a die-hard racist.

Learning to Stand Yourself enabled me to withdraw to the surface again and rediscover that empty feeling of loss and dissatisfied uniformity, which I had really begun to miss.
Thanks, Mary!’ — Susy Douglas, Leicester
And my thanks to the imaginative contributors to the weekly competition at the Spectator, which have been abridged here to protect delicate eyes.

Women, at my Command

There are beautiful sunny days as we come into Springtime, and an old Knight's fancy turns to ladies.

And music.

There is a special Grace that comes to composers. The old Greeks said it was the Muses that brought it. And some is needed too for the hard work that singers need to do to turn notes on a page into sounds that burrow deep into our hearts and lifts them up.

So today I sat out on the patio and summoned a line of ladies - and one small girl with a fabulous voice - to sing for my pleasure.

And for you too.

Maybe I will invite some gentlemen one day. But right now, I like what came by.

Enjoy.

First up the beautiful Elina, Latvia's best export, with her dark-eyed friend Anna.

Encore, m'dears. What a pair.

Both have a touch of Callas. So let's hear from the Prima Donna herself. Have a hanky ready.

Not to be outdone, she wants a twofer as well. And after Madam Butterfly, it has to be Mimi.

Maria has a teaching job now. She is perfecting Angels.

But Anna insists on competing. From the same opera. And she is Fabulous.

And its a take - over.

It is Anna, hedgerow to tree. Determined.

But to finish, a small girl on the rise, showing just what she can do. "I can do that, too" she shows. The Bridge at Arno sees a lot of young women threatening to throw themselves off !

Now I must go and wash the bar tops with my tears.

Why is it that such soaring voices by beautiful women - and little girls - make me weep?

I could never be an atheist while I have ears and my hearing aids, and my heart that can be touched so.

It takes a very cold and unimaginative mind to think that these girls have genes that are examples of the 'survival of the fittest'. There is no possible 'animal' heritage in their art. They have a gift that nature alone did not confer. The composers too.

There was no slow mutation of a gene here and a gene there that could result in such soul-touching effect in just a few hundred thousand years. What possible 'survival' use could such sound fulfil?

That their singing is 'natural' and the songs/symphonies too, is countered by the simple fact that they serve no purpose than to feed the Soul and Glorify. And it takes years of hard work and training.

It is Human, beyond nature, and Divine.

Eat your heart out Professor Dawkins. You sad soul.

The Feminine Woman: More.

I was recently taken to task by a customer for my dark demeanour.  I am a grumpy old Knight sometimes despite the sunny boyish nature of young Percy within. Amfortas the King wears wounds but not lightly.

Those wounds reflect the kingdom beyond the grounds of the Tavern.  It is blighted.  There is little use ignoring it. The Tavern is not Fawlty Towers where we do not mention the war.

The Grace from the Grail is the Kingdom's cure but one needs a reason to seek it. That reason is deep in our nature. Our nature is under attack and we are at war.

The Lovely Louise set off a deep conversation last week. On Femininity. Femininity lies close to the heart of that war.

Much of the conversation went on for days and I have been too busy to tell more of it. But here today we have Dr Henry adding his view. The Southern Belle herself brought him by. Also we have an observation or two from elsewhere.

Such as from James H, a welcomed regular here, who was telling of the 'non-feminine woman' as a contrast. They are not hard to find but some are old in the tooth and come in many guises.
http://nourishingobscurity.com/2013/09/22/the-new-yahoos/
My work colleague told me yesterday about the woman living in a house for two years with her baby daughter she’d starved to death still there with her.
My immediate thought on hearing this was , 'What a metaphor for today: the Feminist woman is killing the feminine woman;  Hera is poisoning Psyche'.
Immediate thoughts, once the nausea subsided enough, were that this has gone beyond Daily Mail sensationalism now, where they have this knack of finding the most bizarre stories.   Teachers, esp female, having sex with pupils and being let off by authorities; mistreatment of patients in care homes (by incompetent nurses); mothers doing this to their children or rather in their eyes, progeny of their wombs and so it goes on.
My colleague said:
“They’ve lost their souls.”
They’ve lost something all right, they’ve gone into some sort of torpor, maybe drug related, of total nothing, where nothing is important, nothing is anything, life has no joy, no hope.   They give way to base instincts and no one even bats an eyelid in their direction.  Some of us go tut tut.
He gave a first-hand example. One most of us have seen. 'Normal' in every high street.

Yesterday at work, two women came in, chatting in Welsh.   They were hard, really hard.  You could see it in the lines on both their faces.
The mother shot short, sharp, daggers of sentences out of the corner of her mouth, the daughter emulated her from the other side of the room.  The body language was to sweep in, scattering all in their path, heads looking about for whatever they could find.
When most people look at clothing, they approach, pause, go through it, pause, select, look, put back.
These didn’t, they had a sort of open arm manner where they’d approach a rack, one arm would go out and violently smash hanger after hanger back, they then went through the whole shop that way, never skipping a beat, turned and walked straight out through everyone else there.
My jaw dropped.
How could people become so hardened, so unpitying, so totally into themselves?
We tend to get a more genteel type of lady in our place, at least everyone is super-polite in that manner of ours and the contrast with these two was stark.   Raw, ill-bred, uncultured.

There have always have been wenches. They tend to be very like their male consorts, the farm-boys. Their souls have never received a drop of Grace or if it has it was spat out as though it were lemon juice.

But what of the expectation of women? Or rather the expectation of a woman's Soul. Her Nature. For make no mistake, especially the error of rejection of the very idea of a Soul: our natures are the Royal Road to our Souls. The Spirit. The Psyche.

So Dr Henry took a seat at the bar and spoke his piece. We listened:

Men Must Champion Feminine Women
He said.
A feminine woman has the effect of a sunrise on a man's soul.

In the words of novelist Alex Waugh, she draws a man "into a magic circle where everything is fresher, cleaner; where there is peace, warmth, comfort. She produces in him the desire to be his best."
Nothing on earth is so fine.
On this continent, increasingly nothing is so rare.
The Official State Gender Ideology, feminism, has decreed that femininity is a "stereotype" invented by men to oppress women.
Feminism is no longer about equal opportunity for women. It is a thuggish, devious synthesis of Marxism and lesbianism used by ruling elites to undermine individuals and weaken society. It is to society what AIDS is to the body.
But men are also to blame
We have accepted the feminist lie that women should be independent and pursue careers. We have abandoned the many gentle and loving women who instinctively want to build their lives around a man. We have pursued the busy, neurotic, overachievers who guarantee us heartbreak, divorce and broken family.
I see many in the bar shuffling their feet. Even mine refused to be still.
By pursuing these women, we are really seeking our own lost masculinity.
Many of us are happy to evade the responsibility of earning a living, and taking charge of a family. In either case we are condemning ourselves to frustration and arrested development.
One only has to serve a few rounds to the young men in the Men's Rights Movement to see just this frustration and arrested development. And not just in the MRM of course.

Arrested development underpins the Entertainment Industry almost in its entirety.  It used to be part of the 'arts', the cultural expression of the depth of our humanity. Our Spirit. Now it is a captured and mistreated beast.
For heterosexuals to find fulfillment, each sex must assume its instinctive part.
The sex act is a metaphor:
The man's spirit pervades the female and they become one. The male spirit must be active and the female receptive. Many men ignore willing, feminine women who can provide Wholeness. These women cannot thrive, we cannot thrive, unless we recognize, defend and love them.
I will get back to this at the end.
What is a feminine woman?
A feminine woman is motivated by love of husband and children. She is the heart of the family, devoted to her husband and children's well being. This is her career. A woman who is preoccupied with another demanding career cannot pay attention to her family. Love is mainly paying attention.

There is a New Yorker cartoon where a child is wearing a welder's mask and using a blowtorch to write, "I need love" on the living room wall. His mother says to her friend: "He's just doing that to get attention."
A feminine woman may have another career but it is her second priority. She is not driven by personal ambition. I liked the movie "Legally Blonde" because the heroine showed that she could excel in the work world but why bother? She had a more important goal: a husband and family.
Career is a feminist lie. Since when are careers the source of human fulfillment?
Very few men have ever gained a sense of fulfilment from their paid work. Just look at the hobbies that absorb them. Pigeon fanciers have more passion and involvement in their pursuit than any computer programmer. The pigeon fancier LOVES 'his' pigeons.  A collector of French Clocks, like ex Prime Minister Paul Keating adores his clocks while paying no attention to Truth, justice and sound national management, which was his job. He paid less attention to controlling his foul language than he did to winding his precious clockworks.
What is so great about being an Assistant Loan Manager at a bank?
Is society expected to provide legions of eager feminists with "fulfilling" careers to compensate for their loveless lives?
Feminists are teaching women to be "strong and independent." This is not feminine. Men respond to a woman's need. We want to rescue the damsel in distress and to win her favors. This archetype is also innate in women. She wants to be enlisted by a man. A feminine woman DEPENDS on a man.
This doesn't mean she is an emotional waif. She is competent but she doesn't pretend to be independent.
Lest the good Dr is misinterpreted here - both men and women need a period of complete independence between adolescence and creative, generative Adulthood. Only then can they be able to grasp the joint gift and sacrifice of Inter-dependence.
Men and women need each other
to be whole.
As long as I have my wife, I am self-sufficient. So is she. Just as the woman is the heart of the family, the man is the head and shoulders. A feminine woman is her husband's partner. They make decisions together but he has the last word.
Hah! Now, any man that can achieve this would indeed be World-leader material.
Men must be the visionaries, captains and navigators. A woman's most important decision is the man she chooses to love and marry.
Hmmm. I stand behind the bar and look at the rooms and bars in my Tavern. I have a good chef and several lovely visiting chefs.  Do NOT eat food that I have cooked. Eat theirs. I have a carpenter and even a mason for the loose stonework. My Tavern Garden would not be so inviting if it were me tending it. I do not have their skills. I respect their knowledge.

A ship cannot be sailed alone. A small boat maybe. But the Captain cannot be the Navigator, the Engineer, the  Coxswain.

The feminine woman, I contend, can be the very best of Navigators. She has to know what she is up to of course. She MUST know the Rules for navigating life. As James showed above, the female navigator is almost a threatened species.

The 'Ship' that a man Captains is his Life.

He can prefer to be a skiff. He may arrest his own development by staying a 'one-man' rowing boat. He does all the work, but frankly there is little to do and he is not going to go far.

He can chose to develop himself. Become a far better man, far more powerful and travel the seas. He will need a crew.

When he marries, it is THEIR life.  She, his wife, has a role. She is an Important Officer on the Bridge.

She can guide him to not so much simply travel the seas but steer them to their Spiritual Port.
A feminine woman is reserved. She wants a man to pay attention to "her" so she doesn't flaunt her sexuality.
A woman wants to be loved more than anything in the world. She wants to be "known" in all her divinity.

At this point I had to wipe the good Dr down with a damp cloth. He was getting just a bit carried away with his flourishes.
This happens when she is truly loved. Is it a coincidence the Bible uses the word "know" as in Abraham "knew" Sarah, to speak of sexual intercourse? All women are beautiful when they are loved.
Women's liberation has taught women to pursue sex for its own sake, as though they were men. This is not feminine.
I would argue, and history confirm, that it is not 'masculine' to pursue sex for its own sake either. Sex is a powerful drive. It has the capacity to Mutiny and take over both the Navigator's and the Captain's jobs.
If a man prefers a new car, why would he marry a "used" woman? He doesn't want a car that's been driven by a lot of men. He doesn't know where it's been, what damage has been done. He will choose a brand new car.
 In my wife's words:
"A man wants to be a woman's first lover;
a woman wants to be his last."
I'm not saying all women should save their virginity until marriage but certainly sex should be reserved for honest, loving long term relationships.
Men need to stop looking for sex and start looking for the right woman.
That's the only guarantee of sex anyway. If men chose wives with the same attention as cars, more marriages would succeed. Women are the vehicles to the future, in terms of emotional fulfillment and family.
If men knew where they wanted to go, they would choose women who would get them there. They would not be blinded by sex.
Ahha. A small nod to the need for a Navigator.
A feminine woman tries to please the man she loves. No, this has not been outlawed, it just seems that way. A feminine woman generates love by giving love. She empowers her man by believing in him
Love is expressed in actions and effort. Baking a pie is an act of love. So is making the home beautiful.
Are we so blind, impoverished and demoralized that we cannot appreciate this?
Why have we allowed feminists to stigmatize homemaking?
Women would be more than happy to be homemakers if it received the recognition and appreciation that it deserves.

A feminine woman has grace, beauty and wisdom.
These all come from staying in touch with her spirit and not pursuing an exhausting career that requires masculine qualities.
On the "Oprah" Show, I saw three young women interviewed about the "quarter-life" crisis. They were having trouble getting their careers on track and because of their families' expectations, they were falling apart. Oprah urged these girls to "follow their instincts."
No one mentioned that for women in their early twenties, "following their instincts" might entail having a baby.
No one is following their instincts any more.
They are doing what feminists tell them to do.
It's time men started listening to their instincts too.
We want to be the masters of our domain. We want to love and possess ("pay attention," "know") our wives.
We want to create families that are loving, lively and happy.
It's time we embraced the quiet, unassuming beautiful women who want to be our help mates.

A lot there to drink to.  Especially on a Sunday.

But let me go back to the earlier 'metaphor' that Dr Henry gave us. I can see his point but I think he misses a far deeper Truth.

He talks of 'arrested development'. He leads us from there into 'sex'. Well. of course sex is there, but something far and away deeper.

A man will not reveal himself to anyone unless he has total and complete Trust in a person.

He is unlikely to do so in a world which pits him against the rest of the world. He is not 'naturally' a competitive being by simple choice. He HAS to be.

When a feminine woman, like say Louise, says that 'she is his comfort', that is exactly what she needs to be to earn his Trust. If she competes, she loses. So does he.

The 'Compleat Trust' that a couple must build in one another enables the guards to drop and for one another to enter into one another's soul. As Dr Henry says, 'To Know'. But that is not simply sexual.

It is an essential for a man, and for a woman, to Know themselves. But there are aspects of our selves that we cannot see for ourselves , which need another to show to us.

We may be fearful of those aspects. They are 'unknown' to us and we have a natural fear of the unknown.

There are things we know about our selves already that we do not want anyone else to know. We fear that a loved one would reject us or betray us, were we to show those aspects. We do not Trust them. We retain our secrets.

It is ONLY through developing that Trust that we can be shown - by someone who lives us, is with us, and is 'whole' with us - those other things that even we cannot see in ourselves.

It is essential for our development.

Without such, our development is 'arrested'.

A loving and completely trusted wife who has committed herself, is the best person to Navigate a man into the hidden parts of his 'self' and  his Soul and reveal it to him.

In doing so she reveals her true self and Soul to him.

Oh.... and it cannot work with a homosexual couple, because the hidden parts 'fit' with an opposite sex partner.

A man cannot know the other half of humanity, HIS humanity, without entering into a woman's Soul, and vice versa.

Men and women need each other
to be whole.

Give me a Tall Ship and a star to steer her by.

Barely a soul in the Tavern all day due to the magnificent Tall Ships in the harbour down the hill. Even I was out and about.

Hobartown saw them arrive yesterday and today they were all sitting in their finery alongside the wharves. So - Food for the Sailor's Soul.

The 'Europa' leads a long line of Sail and is welcomed by more.

From the upper balconies of the Tavern, with a spyglass.
The Lord Nelson makes her way up the D'Entrecasteaux Channel.

The weather turned out well for the arrival and for the crowds today. Every boat swarmed with interested wannabe adventurers.

The signs aboard called for 'volunteers: no experience needed' for around-the-world trips, which frankly did not fill this Old Knight with a lot of confidence.

Not that my pockets would have held enough to pay for the privilege.

Fit for crows.

A few thousand miles from land in a force eight gale up there on that platform for the 'night watch', is not the most attractive holiday I could think of.

Ahh, but.... the salt air, the wind in your face, the stars above, a 'sound' cook in the galley. What more could a chap ask for.

A horse !

Better, an aeroplane..... each to his own.

But back to earth and sea.....and a bite.

This chap had been standing for three hours motionless 'being' a statue. Heck, one has to have something to entertain the kiddies. But even still-life needs a lunch break, even if it means having to take his fake moustache off.

Methinks he is better off down there than up in the crows nest.

Of interest.... in harbour today were the 'Lord Nelson', the 'Lady Nelson', (after whom Mount Nelson takes its name) and the 'Emma Hamilton'. Those with a nose for rum and history will know that Emma came between the great Sea Lord and his Lady for a while, but the harbourmaster here sensitively berthed them well apart.

Talking of rum..... A toast to me hearty friend James.

Isn't She Lovely.

Some musos warming up in the music room. Took my mind and heart back, and back.

Old Knights have wounds.

But Joys too. Some joys burst from the heart.

Isn't she lovely? Isn't she wonderful?
Isn't she precious? Less than one minute old.
I never thought through love
We'd be making one as lovely as she
But isn't she lovely made from love?

Isn't she pretty? Truly the Angel's best
Boy, I'm so happy, we have been Heaven blessed
I can't believe what God has done
Through us He's given life to one
But isn't she lovely made from love?

I delivered my baby girl. OK. I assisted the midwife.

It was my eyes that saw her crowning.

The first eyes to see her enter the world.

Stevie Wonder sang from my car as I drove to work afterwards. I played it over and over; miles of countryside that had taken on an entirely different aspect.

The day was brilliant. My heart was filled with a light far brighter than the sun rising on its day's journey. I have never felt such Joy since.

I was a King.

She, my Princess.

I always wanter her.

Long before she was even a twinkle in my eye, she was there, in my heart.

So many years ago.

Now I have only the cross of estrangement to bear.

But the Love is as perfect as ever it was.

Unconditional.

My Little Petal.

Old Kings carry old wounds.

Old but forever fresh.

Blood still drives Broken Hearts.

I say the Rosary every day.

A Boot for Him and a Shoe for Her.

Some small signs of a change in the weather - or even the Climate - today brought smiles to the Tavern customers' faces. The sun is out to dry up the dreary.

The warmth emanating from Canberra is being caused by the burning the collected works of Professor Flannery, the 'Climate Commissioner', as he is ejected from his Office.

A Boot up the Arse sends him on his way.

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/national-affairs/policy/coalition-delivers-on-promise-to-axe-climate-commission/story-e6frg6xf-1226722787406

THE Abbott government has moved swiftly to disband the Climate Commission and sack its commissioners, including controversial chief commissioner Tim Flannery.
The Coalition is delivering on an election promise to dispense with the commission, saving taxpayers $580,000 this financial year and $1.6 million in following years. Mr Hunt said he had also written to Professor Flannery and the other five commissioners, thanking them for their efforts and formally advising them of the decision, effective immediately.
The Climate Commission has been a controversial body. Established by the Gillard government in 2011, it was charged with providing Australians with “an independent and reliable source of information about the science of climate change, the international action being taken to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the economics of a carbon price”.
However it delivered reports with titles including the “angry summer” and “critical decade” which said climate change is already having a deleterious impact in Australia. The reports were widely publicised and the commission was accused of running an agenda.
Macquarie University academics Ryan Crompton and John McAneney, for instance, responded to the “angry summer” report with a paper which said, in part; “any claim of a climate change influence on increasing disaster loss totals to date is simply unfounded and in contradiction to the international scientific evidence”.
Professor Flannery's part-time role as chief commissioner attracted an annual salary of $180,000.

The villagers of Oz have had their small wallets picked for years by the Socialists who have in turn paid their shonky mates.

Flannery is just one of the

army of rent-seeking scum

that have been ripping off the taxpayer for the last few years of Socialist-Feminist-Green chicanery. There WILL be more thrown out on their arses in the days and weeks to come.

These parasites are being paid enormous sums for bombastically lecturing the population from their comfortable, air-conditioned seats, and taking liberties with expense accounts.

Flannery, who is a 'Professor' in the same mold as Professor Gillard, has and had no qualification as a climate scientist. Not that such a qualification is needed once a person has learned to read from the

politically correct pages in the socialist hymn-book.

His 'pay' of $180,000 a year for a Part-time job is an insult to taxpayers raising families on a third of that. His entire career, like so many of the rent-seeking scum in similar sinecures, has been stolen from productive pockets.

Andy Bolt gave us 'Highlights' of Flannery’s CV:

Before he became Climate Commissioner, Flannery warned the Arctic could be ice free by 2013 (ice this year increased instead), “Australia is likely to lose its northern rainfall” (there’s actually been more rain) and “Perth will be the 21st century’s first ghost metropolis” (Perth is now headed for its wettest September in 40 years).
More seriously, Flannery in 2007 said global warming had hit Australia so hard that without desalination plants Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane could be out of water by 2009.
“Even the rain that falls isn’t actually going to fill our dams and our river systems,” he warned.

Instead, floods filled dams in Sydney and Brisbane, and the expensive desalination plants hurriedly built in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide are now all mothballed or scheduled to be.
Under Flannery, the Climate Commission similarly leaped on any sign that the planet might be warming, and played down evidence it wasn’t.

So hot that Traffic Lights are melting !!!

But whatever you do, don't show why. Blame Global Warming instead.

It blamed global warming for the Murray Darling Basin drought, despite admitting earlier there was no obvious link.
Last year, it even issued an alarmist report on “Australia’s Angry Summer”, hyping warm temperatures in Australia while ignoring low ones in the United States.

His grossly inflated scares, well publicised by leftist media, have cost Australia BILLIONS of dollars. His hypocricies have caught up with him and he now has to slink back to his waterside home - the waterside he himself claimed would rise up and flood the land.

Well a different Rise has happened.

The Tide has turned and his ilk will be washed away.

Giving him the boot however is just a part-measure. Flannery should have to pay back his ill-taken gains.

Those who appointed him should be charged with embezzlement of public funds and they too should try their backsides and a pair of boots for fit:

I will drink to that.

There is more to consider however, especially when thinking of footwear and funds:

That $180,000 a year deprived 3 women of shoes.

In fact it is the equivalent in just one year of THREE women's lifetime spending on shoes.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2416077/British-women-spend-34-000-shoes-lifetime.html#ixzz2eeBShxSg
A new survey has revealed that British women will spend more than £34,000 on shoes over a course of a lifetime.
That is Au$ 58,965

British women are very similar to the ones we have in Oz, I am told.
Clearly keen to give Carrie Bradshaw a run for her money (the Sex And The City character who realised she could have bought an apartment with the money she'd spent on shoes) British women buy on average 13 pairs of shoes per year.

This results in an average annual spend of £570 ($982 Ozbucks) which, over the course of 60 years, equates to a staggering £34,200 - or Au$ 58.965 spent on shoes - enough to buy two new family cars and still have enough change for a fortnight’s holiday.
I searched the Tavern for all the shoes I have. Three pairs.  The newest is three years old. At least I have the 'three' part.

SEXISM !! The Women's Issue.

By the Lord Harry we can laugh in the Tavern. You have to sometimes, seeing the antics in the village, especially amongst the women, bless 'em. We like women here and hang on their every word.

In the Oz villages the left are licking their wounds after a complete drubbing in the Polls and their chosen leaders thrown out into the deserts. But the shrill cries of the lefty ladies echoes down the by-ways still.

It seems all their moans and shrieks are centred on the poor showing of women in the new Government. They are almost orgasming over it. Here we are in an old, established democracy in which women are more than equal, and yet few women were elected. As a result the 'Arch-Misogynist', Tony the Jesuit, has had to form a Cabinet with barely a well-turned ankle in sight.

Of course if there were a whole lot of women in the new Government front benches, the lefty ladies would be calling them traitors to the sisterhood.

Abbott is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

Not that women were missing from action in the 'shadow' line up that Abbott had when in opposition.

His Chief of Staff  - a very capable woman -  Peta Credlin - saw to that.

Peta Credlin: Abbott's Right-hand Woman, keeps her eyes on EVERYTHING.

She is still in place but only because she is not a politician who had to find a seat and a willing bunch of people to vote for her. But it was she who made damned sure that the entire team worked like a well-oiled machine.

Note that. Labour could not find a capable woman.  They imported a Scottish MAN  for their Chief of Staff role.

But what of Sophie Mirabella?

Fine woman. She would be a great Cabinet Minister. Great presence and very effective as an MP. Abbott waited all week for the results of her election before she eventually told him not to wait any longer.

The Left buried Mirabella, then complained she’s not there
First the Left threw everything into defeating Sophie Mirabella, one of two women in Tony Abbott’s shadow cabinet.

Now, with Mirabella gone, the Left complains Tony Abbott does not have enough women in his Cabinet.
The Left like women. So much that they have pre-selection lists that are ALL- Women candidates. No men allowed.

Not that that is sexist, mind you. Oh no.
That's feminism.

The voters get no say. But the Conservatives go for the best candidates, male or female.

And Sophie was a star performer.

But it looks like she won't get a slot because the Left pulled out all the stops to screw her chances.

The Lefties are 'commiserating' with Julie Bishop:

she who can stare-down a Buffalo.

Another highly competent woman who has done the hard yards.

"Poor Julie, the 'Token Woman' " they call her.

Julie: "See this hand? It will be around your ear in a minute !"

The true sexist is Ita Buttrose, Lefty Maven superstar who sees a successful woman - Julie, a managing partner of a law firm, now deputy Liberal Party leader - and concludes she’s just some man’s “token woman”:

I’m sure Julie Bishop is accustomed to being the token woman throughout her career, and here she is being the token woman again.

Disgraceful. We’re back to where we were under John Howard, where the critics of the government seem slightly unhinged. And seem, dare I say it, to be projecting more than describing.

Buttrose is noted for her spectacular literally overnight rise from lisping Secretary to Editor of the 'new wave' of women's magazines back some 30 years ago.

It must have been one fabulous night.

It is said, with sound and almost certain evidence that it was spent 'working' with the Boss. As the actress said, "Well it got me the job".

"What is your pleasure, Mr.Bossman?"

And the Buttrose success? She turned women's magazines from housewife, mother, nice girl - friendly advice and interest into sex-obsession, feminism, and denigration of anything male that would not kow-tow to the insatiable demands for them to buy 'stuff' for the modern, liberated gal. The 'slutosphere' was born.

Ah, yes. The power of advertising, ideology and a scanty nighty. Don't burn your bras girls. Ita has some fashion tips for going to work wearing nothing else but a rose and that bra. ("just make sure it is expensive and bought from one of our advertisers")

Buttrose’s slur suggests Bronwyn Bishop is right - that some people are so habituated to affirmative action appointments that they see a token woman even when staring right at a woman who’s risen entirely on her merits:

Likely Speaker Bronwyn Bishop (another 'hard yards' Conservative woman MP, says she never wants to see the Liberal Party embrace affirmative action as it would entrench women as ‘’permanent second-class citizens’’.

Poor Julie Bishop, my arse.
(Says Andy Bolt from his seat at the bar)
Julie Bishop is not a ‘token woman’…
Julie Bishop is a woman who has never, as far as I can recall, had a concession made to her on account of her gender.
In fact, I cannot even recall any instances of chivalry towards her displayed by her male colleagues, many of whom have cheerfully undermined and white-anted her just as viciously as they would any man whose job they wanted, which is what happened to her when she was shadow treasurer.
She has played political games with the best of them.
She has pursued a political career with relentless determination, and endured setbacks and humiliations along the way while never succumbing to self-doubt or self-pity… Lonely she might be in Tony Abbott’s Cabinet, yes, but let’s not insult her by dismissing her considerable achievements. ..
Something weird always creeps in to this debate about women’s representation in politics. And that is that some proponents of equal participation find it necessary to endorse only the participation of women they personally admire.

So, right now Abbott has few women in his ranks. Julie Bishop is High amongst them as his Deputy Leader. The Abbott and the Bishop. A strong team.

Andy had a lot more to say too, showing not only what the gang of lefty women are saying but putting some needed context too.

http://blogs.news.com.au/heraldsun/andrewbolt/index.php/heraldsun/comments/abbott_lacks_women_his_critics_lack_context/

And while Labor complains there are almost no women in Tony Abbott’s cabinet there is not a single woman among Labor’s four leaders - Prime Minister (pro-tem) Kevin Rudd, acting leader Chris Bowen and leadership rivals Anthony Albanese and Bill Shorten.  And of course their 'lady leader'  a month or so back, Ju-LIAR Gillard, was shafted so bad she might get away with crying 'Rape'.

Mind you, some women leaders are so awesome, a cabinet only needs one.

"What about the vegetables, Prime Minister?".
"They will have what I am having."

Drink up, me hearties.

Take courage, ladies. Abbott has a fine bunch of  'second string' gals on their 'first tour' as MPs on the way up after a bit of training.
