Your ABC. Liars or Fools?

Some bars have the TV. All channels, of course, as a chap has to carefully sift the fiction from the truth. And of course Pay for them. The Taxpayer has his stores invaded by the Taxman's shovels in order to pay the people in the 'National Broadcaster', in the vain hope that they may tell us useful things.

But as with its sister in the UK, the BBC, our ABC is replete with sins of commission and omission. It tries to tell us that we commit sins of Emission.

(Update at the bottom: Just see how an interviewer SHOULD go after liars and ommitters, dissemblers and mendacity-merchants).

Jo Nova was in and up in arms with indignation. Jo is good at keeping a firm rein on it though. You can get to her various wonderful exposes in the right side-bar.

"There they go again. Last night the ABC again used taxpayer dollars to post up a slick advertisement for their favourite religion.  

Because Catalyst won’t read skeptical blogs, interview skeptics, or ask difficult questions, they give a false impression to any poor viewers who haven’t figured out that the presenters (in this case, Anja Taylor) are more activist than investigator.

 

It’s not so much what Catalyst say, as what they won’t mention. So the water cycle is intensifying — double the climate models? But Catalyst won’t tell you that the temperature trend is half what the models predicted (and below their lowest estimate).  

They won’t tell you that the water vapor trends in the upper troposphere are crucial to the models but completely wrong.  

They mention the ARGO buoys and then ignore their most important result — that any warming so far is well below what the models estimate (inasmuch as we can tell).  

They mention the Arctic, but not the Antarctic. (Wasn’t this supposed to be global warming?) 

Without a cause-and-effect link this isn’t science, it isn’t journalism, and we don’t need more  

state-funded propaganda.

Catalyst for regulation of energy use and bigger government perhaps? 

Another fellow, Ken, a friend of Jo, perhaps, chimed in:

 Last night’s Catalyst was all about extreme weather, complete with scary images and scarier narration.  

For now I will leave the claims about more frequent high intensity rain events (I think they might find Toowoomba got a bit more than 100mm in an hour, and they mixed up footage of Toowoomba with the Lockyer Valley), January being our hottest month, the Pacific getting fresher and the Atlantic saltier.  

I’ll just look at the claim that blizzards and heatwaves can both result from global warming. 

Professor Jennifer Francis , from the Institute of Marine and Coastal Sciences, Rutgers University, explained that the rapidly warming Arctic has created a ‘gentler’ atmospheric temperature gradient between the Tropics and the Poles.  This leads to weaker, more variable, jet stream winds, which then ‘meander’ north and south more.   This allows frigid polar air to penetrate further towards the tropics, and hot tropical air to penetrate further towards the poles.  Also, because the wavy jet stream is moving more slowly, this causes weather systems to persist for longer. 

OK, that is a plausible explanation for the extremes being experienced in Europe.  But did your intrepid investigative science reporter Anja Taylor or researcher Wendy Zukerman then ask the good professor,

“So is that happening in the Southern Hemisphere too? You know, with the Angry Summer?”   

Who knows if they did.  (Taverner: They didn't show either the ask or the reply, if indeed the ask existed). But the answer is “no”. For while it is true that “The Arctic is warming faster than anywhere on Earth”, the Antarctic isn’t. 

 But omission is just one crime against Intellectual Honesty. How about deliberate deception?

Peter Gleick — infamous for using deception to steal documents “for The Cause” tweeted that it was getting hotter every year. He attached a picture of melting traffic lights.

“Hot enough for you?”

How good is this man’s physics?

Just one half melting??

What he didn't show was this.

At last. Some real man-made global warming !

I wonder if he had anything to do with setting the fire.  Just asking.

There are others though that take a fairly strict look at 'data' and 'reports' to try and get to the truth.

That’s a 0.3% consensus, not 97% 

We’ve already found enough flaws, but Christopher Monckton analyzes John Cook’s 97% consensus paper and sharpens the scythe. He finds:
  

1. It should never have been done, it’s an unscientific method — “consensus”
 

2. The “consensus” was defined in three different ways. (Which hypothesis are they testing?) None of the three definitions is specific enough to be falsifiable.
 

3. The paper strangely omitted the key results. (Why make 7 classifications, if they were not going to disclose how many papers fell into each category?)
 

4. Of nearly 12,000 abstracts analyzed, there were only 64 papers in category 1 (which explicitly endorsed man-made global warming). Of those only 41 (0.3%) actually endorsed the quantitative hypothesis as defined by Cook in the introduction. A third of the 64 papers did not belong.
 

5. None of the categories endorsed “catastrophic” warming — a warming severe enough to warrant action — though this was assumed in the introduction, discussion and publicity material.
 

6. The consensus (such as there is, and it being irrelevant) appears to be declining.
 

The nice thing about this commentary is that Monckton provides a summary of the philosophy of science (showing Cook et al are 2,300 years out of date). Monckton has also checked Cook’s own data which was finally provided (several weeks after publication) and compares Cook to Oreskes, Anderegg, and Doran and Zimmerman and explains why they are wrong too.

And another thing ! We mentioned the BBC. And it is not just Global Warming that is a religious fetish. There's the 'Animal Rights mob too: a sort of greenie sub-species.

I did very much enjoy recording Any Questions in the belly of the beast – aka Eco Loon Central, aka the Centre for Alternative Technology in Machynlleth – this week. But I'm not sure it necessarily had the makings of brilliant radio. 

The big problem with radio – as opposed to TV – is that if things start kicking off in the recording venue (as they very much did with last night's unusually lively audience of yoghurt-weaving yurt-dwellers) there are no cameras to relay what's going on to the outside world. If you were listening last night – or if you listened to today's repeat – all you'll have heard is some background protestations from the audience and the sound of Jonathan Dimbleby trying to keep order. 

I think the technical term for what the BBC did with this programme was "trolling."  

Step one: arrange to record your panel show in ground zero of green lunacy.  

Step two: invite one of Britain's most infamous climate sceptics and one of Britain's most outspokenly anti-wind-farm, pro-fracking MPs (Owen Paterson – who was partly responsible for effecting the government's recent policy shift making it easier for groups to oppose wind farms).  

Step three: light touch-paper and run. 

That noise you'll have heard in the background was partly all the mung-bean-munchers in the audience jeering and hissing me when I expressed scepticism about climate change; but mainly – the real rumpus at the end – was when a small group of anti-badger-cull protestors in the front row tried to hijack the show by loudly shouting insults at Owen Paterson. 

No Badgers were harmed in making this blog.

Annoyingly this was at the very moment when it was my turn to speak about wind farms and I ended up having to shout into my mic so as to avoid being drowned out by the yelling badger huggers. 

Anyway, I enjoyed it a lot, as I think Paterson did too.

The ABC can be shut down. The BBC too.

They are only kept in business because they screen Dr Who, and the buggers won't even tell us what his name is.

Just when I think the left in New Zealand couldn’t get any nuttier than they already are … they come up with an idea to prove me wrong.

The Labour party has come up with a plan to block men from its candidate selection process in some electorates, meaning that only women may be nominated for the position so the party can meet their set target of 50% female representation by they year 2017.

Yes ..that's right folks!…a “man ban"!!

I guess nothing should surprise me with the left in this country anymore. The labour party is a party focused on identity politics i.e gender, sexuality, ethnicity..... there are no traces left of the labour party that once used to be the party of the workers.

The NZ labour party has totally lost the plot, and as nationals Judith Collins said

Green Party co-leader Metiria Turei said the new rule would make sure that women are able to put their skills forward on an equal basis to men.

"By having rules that allow women equal access to the process mean the women are definitely in the race.''

Currently, of course, Democracy and Equal ability to apply for the job apply. Women have always been welcome 'to the race', but they didn't want to run.

No more ! Now they will have to.

Men will be forbidden to run.

That is a way of having a race that the Olympic Committee should have a look at. No men allowed in mixed games.
 
The Greens also have a requirement that electorate branches consider gender equity when making candidate selection.

Act leader John Banks criticised Labour's move.

Mr Banks said when he entered Parliament in 1981 prior to the election there were four female members of Parliament, after the election there were eight.

"Today there are 40 women members of Parliament and I would like to see the day come when there's more women members of Parliament, and there's plenty of high quality women, on merit, that can get themselves into the Parliament without that kind of gerrymandering,'' he said.

 Labour's Secretary Tim Barnett denied the policy was unfair to males, saying although the list did allow the party to address under-representation, the party did not want to get into a situation in which most list candidates were female because there were too many male electorate MPs.

Middle-East Turmoil

A lot of shaking of heads and pint-ordering in the P&B tonight. The usual sombre news stories get inflated and hoisted and the curmudgeons draw their Gladius-sized Pins ready to make a nice 'Pop' sound.

This time it was about Egypt.  The Tanks and Helicopters are all fuelled up again and the bellies of the Egyptian people are empty again. The hurdy-gurdy is going around again.

The country has only been around for 7000 years and has yet to get beyond infant shitting stage. Sure the Pyramids are exotic, although let's be real here, they are monuments to stupidity and cost millions of wasted lives forced into slavery.

And yes, the Pharaohs have gone.  Haven't they?

My friend Joy raised the issue. She let rip, quite reasonably, on just why the Egyptians might have a few lessons for America. The balloon went up.

What happens in other countries is a source of concern. And one wonders about ones own neighbourhood. I made a point.

I was really just getting the regulars' thirst going.  (Hey, a Tavern Keeper has a job to do). And perhaps YOU, the readers, can join in.

Nations can help other nations in the same way that one can help one’s neighbours down the road. But, frankly the same considerations and judgements are needed.

The local busy-body might be inclined to wander into someone else's home and criticise everything, try to rearrange the furniture and insist on the children eating vegemite. And insist that Mum and dad invest in a favoured Ponzi scheme.  Or revitalise their marriage by having a wife-swapping party.

A different busy body might be ‘sympathetic’ cooing encouragement and pressuring the same vegemite diet and investment and even ‘donate’ a friggin’ awful settee, bed, curtains and carpet. And urge them to vote for Kevin 'cuz he has such a nice smile and wants everyone to be nice.  To him. They are usually more interested in making sure the bed is clean and comfortable enough for when they shag the couple’s children.

It will be the stupid ones who try to do that with the local bikie gang HQ though. Or the local drug-dealer's den.

Both may well need some ‘changes’ but such efforts are best left in the ‘mind your own bizzo’ basket or the ‘Bolt the doors against the buggers’ one. Otherwise it ain’t the bikies’ kids that are going to get shagged.


Middle East countries have riotous people. We see that all the time. Most are quite insane.

They shoot guns in the street whenever the weather changes. The kill one another over ‘slights’. 

They kill members of their own families if their 'honour' is 'offended !

Heck, they are very sensitive about Honour. They just have no idea what it means.  

They send their kiddies into crowds with bombs attached to their small bodies if their Allah-chap is even mentioned in the same breath as Coca-Cola.

They hold grudges for generations. They hate and blame.

Yes, I hear you. They are in some ways a bit like the Irish, so we can't look outward only.

They are like a household that throw their furniture out of the windows, let the grass grow to a ten feet high jungle and leave old cars to rot on their street front. And then have the temerity to swear at their neighbours and blast them with filthy Rap music all night.

Expecting them to start mowing the grass instead of smoking grass is a reach too far. Give them a lawn mower and it will be dismantled and turned into a machine-gun part or thrown onto the rotting car pile. Expecting them to 'Vote' as though they could stomach Democracy is a bit rich.

Loss of Trust

Everyone grumbles. Even the tavern-keeper's favourite customers. But some grumbles resonate like distant thunder. RamZ (no, not the chef) was grumbling just today about the state of distrust that is growing between various parties in the part of Hilary's Village where he lives.

You know that village. It's the one that it 'takes to raise a child'. One could be forgiven though for thinking that the Hilary Clinton's village idiots have taken over the duties of Mr Plod the policeman.

And it is not confined to one country. As we shall see.

So in the US Ramz had to 'Have a Talk'. One loving partner to another.

Everyone in the US room paid attention, of course, but few had seen what actually happened.

But it did remind me of an incident in Oz some years back, in a busy Melbourne street one warm summer's day.

Someone parked their car outside of the Stock Exchange in Collins Street, which is a wide thoroughfare. Wide pavements too. (Sidewalks for the US Room imbibers). The owner had left his dog in the car whilst he went into the building, and the window was down just enough for the dog to get air and release any heat build-up.

After a while the dog became impatient and started to bark. Hey, dogs get lonely. People were able to give the car a wide berth though and it could not get out. Nevertheless a woman passer-by complained and called a policeman, who duly arrived and assessed the situation. Then after a moment or two's reflection and consideration, he drew his gun, stuck it through the small opening and shot the dog.

There's public service for you.

It is not quite what happened to cause Ramz to make a mention. The Oz cop was on his own and didn't have other more mature cops around to advise him that shooting dogs in cars was not the best idea. And there was not much else going on which is a bit different to RamZ's incident where a lot was going on and a lot of cops hanging around waiting for some ideas.

Someone, you can see, had the temerity to take pictures in a street. That called for Mr Plod the 'action man'. So, let's see what actually happened.

Note that the man did not interfere with the police. THEY approached him. He was 'going about his lawful occasions' as his lawyer should argue when he hauls the arses of those cops into a civil court for damages. He was quite entitled to film in the street. Even film 'law' officers whom HE pays with his taxes. (I am presuming he does pay taxes).

THEY arrested him. He had broken no law. His dog, in the car, with the window further down than in Collins Street, saw his master being 'attacked' by strange men and went to investigate. The dog exercised restraint. It did not attack the cops.

The cops weren't dogs.

Are they not the 'skills' that women were supposed to bring?

But the attackers get protected behind the Police wall. They ones who were assaulted in the street are arrested !!

She, the one in charge, does not have an answer to the men's questions of 'Why Us?, What about them?'

Standing before an American court convicted of the most heinous of child sex crimes, the double lives of Australian citizen Mark J. Newton and his long-term boyfriend Peter Truong were laid bare.

 

Moments later Newton was sentenced to 40 years in prison for sexually abusing the boy he and Truong, 36 from Queensland, had ‘‘adopted’’ after paying a Russian woman $8000 to be their surrogate in 2005.

 

What a mother ! She used her body for monetary gain just as any prostitute would and sold the baby she produced. Not a thought for the child's Soul, nor her own.

The pair had adopted the boy ‘‘for the sole purpose of exploitation’’.  

The abuse began just days after his birth and over six years the couple travelled the world, offering him up for sex with at least eight men, recording the abuse and uploading the footage to an international syndicate known as the Boy Lovers Network.

 

‘‘Personally .. I think this is probably the worst [paedophile] rings ... if not the worst ring I’ve ever heard of,’’ investigator Brian Bone of the US Postal Inspection Service told reporters outside the US federal court room in Indiana.

But what does Society expect. Happy Families? Healthy people? The society that denigrates real fathers and families, and takes children away from  really normal loving fathers who sacrifice for their children, also created this travesty of 'Gay Marriage', allowing sex-obsessed homosexuals to adopt children and even BUY them .

JUST WHAT DOES A 'PROGRESSIVE' SOCIETY EXPECT TO HAPPEN? 

 

US District Judge Sarah Evans Barker said the pair deserved a harsher punishment but were tried at district court level to avoid subjecting a jury to the repulsive images that had been produced.

 

‘‘What can be said? What can be done to erase some of the horror of this?’’ Judge Barker said in handing down her sentence.

Well, for a start, Lady, YOU can stop the enabling. YOU can stop facilitating this evil. Have you never heard of 'Bolting the Stable Door' after the horse has gone? It is not as though a 'normal' person cannot see a disaster waiting to happen.

 

Newton and Truong gave an interview to a local ABC reporter in Far North Queensland in 2010 on their battle to have a child as a gay couple. Their search started in 2002 in the US, where they both were working, and when they did not have any success Truong travelled to Russia and found a woman who they ‘‘clicked with personality-wise’’. She was paid $8000 and, as per their agreement, granted the couple sole custody of the boy, handing him over five days after his birth in 2005.

I am sure their personalities were well matched. Prostitute mother, baby-seller, and a baby-buying Homosexual pederast. What a lovely couple. Blessed in Hell.

 

The family planned to live in Cairns but that was delayed because Australian authorities initially refused to grant the child a visa. That took 2 years and upon their eventual arrival in Australia they said Customs quizzed them for hours. Police were also sent to the family’s house in Cairns to check up on the pair.

The Police of course now must treat Homosexuals as though they are 'normal'.  Otherwise they might 'offend' them.

 

In the radio interview, 20 months before their arrest, Newton was asked if he felt the extra attention was because authorities suspected there was ‘‘something dodgy ... something paedophlic going on here?’’

 

‘‘Absolutely, absolutely, I’m sure that was completely the concern,’’ Newton replied.

But of course now the 'authorities' do not permit anyone to be 'concerned'. That would be 'Discrimination'.

Evidence before the court revealed the abuse began before the couple returned to Australia. One video is said to show Newton performing a sex act on the boy when he was less than two weeks old. 

Judge Barker said the pair brainwashed the child to believe the sexual abuse was normal. Newton was also said to have trained the boy to deny any inappropriate behaviour if he was ever questioned by authorities.

Yes. And the Homosexual lobby, to which Governments seem to kow-tow, does see sexual abuse as 'normal', just so long as Homosexuals do it, Family Courts do it and the Legislators themselves do it. For is not the deliberate destruction of marriage and fatherhood and motherhood and the trafficking of children not abuse?

 

Newton and Truong claimed they were being targeted because they were homosexual.

Indeed, consider this: our ABC actually strongly promoted this very same homosexual couple just a few years ago. The GayBC is among the most pro-homosexual media outlets in existence in this country. They gave this couple plenty of airplay and newsfeed. 

Their “moving” story was played out on the radio, on television, the Internet, and in newspapers. And the ABC was up to its ears in all this. For example on 14 July, 2010 they ran with this story:  

“Two dads are better than one”. It began as follows:
“Becoming parents was hard work for gay couple, Pete and Mark but they'd do it all over again if they had to. 

A shiny child's bike lies on its side on the front lawn of an immaculate garden. Around the back gay dads Pete and Mark chase their son's pet chickens around, trying to catch them.  Drake, 5, exclaims that the little birds are too fast for him. 

“It's a happy, relaxed family scene. But it wasn't an easy road to get there. After many hurdles Drake was born by surrogacy in Russia. ‘We decided that we would have a child, that it was time for us to have a family. We wanted to experience the joys of fatherhood and we started our surrogacy over in the United States back in 2002,’ Pete said.” 

In typical lamestream media style, this story is designed to pull all the emotional heart strings, and make anyone opposed to it look like a callous and heartless ogre. Personal interest stories are always used by the activist MSM. Contrary facts and evidence can easily be overcome by simply showing a happy “family”. Emotive stories will always trump rational argument and evidence-based debate. 

The ABC in particular and the MSM in general do this constantly. It is a way to short circuit debate, and put the homosexual activists in the best possible light.  

Of course they will never show the opposite. They will never feature lengthy stories with big colour pics about children who have been harmed in homosexual households. They will never do personal interest stories which may cast homosexuality in a bad light. 

It is only and always positive spin from the media lapdogs of the homosexual lobbyists. And this story fit the description to a T.  

The ABC puff piece ends this way:

Police were also sent around to their house on a Sunday morning to investigate. ‘When people see two guys together, you know it's like, 'Where's his mother?' We've had a lot of people ask that,’ Pete said. ‘I think that even if one of us was a woman, we wouldn't have had the same suspicions and problems that we went through.’ 

“Thinking back to the police visit, Pete said the police seemed to want reassurance that the situation was 'right'. They checked if the couple had equipment to raise a child like a bed, clothes and bottles. Mark said he's sure that they were under suspicion of paedophilia. But despite the difficulties, he said the couple would do it again with no hesitation. ‘We're a family just like any other family,’ he said with pride.”  

Yep, a happy family just like any other. Oh, and the ABC has now pulled this article from their website. It says this at the site: “The page you are looking for,
